I send a text to my sister-in-law each morning, being a bit maudlin so that she knows that I am still alive. Her phone is pretty ancient and although it makes a noise as a text arrives, she sometimes can't view the message for a while, sometimes over an hour, but usually rather less – and sometimes she can view it straightaway. We also talk on the phone daily and today she said that a text that I had sent on the 15th had just arrived! I can, I think, understand a delay of minutes, even an hour, but five days?
Her provider is EE, don't know if that is relevant.

Texts do get lost in the ether from time to time.
