Busy channel hopping last evening and landed on a channel showing the old Alfred Hitchcock film "The Birds" It was only a few minutes in so we didn't miss much. Enjoyed seeing that again, it had been many years since the last time.

Good film, I love birds but found this very scarey indeed.

Talking of old films, we watch Terminator last night, the way things are going with these machines everywhere maybe this is the future, man against machine.  I happened to phone Barclays this morning as I was having trouble getting into my online banking.  The lady said for security now they can recognise my voice, OK this is a good security feature but one more thing the bloody machine can do, like on Terminator they won't need humans one day and that will be our lot - Exterminate!!!!!!!

Raven

I've said for years we are sleepwalking into the age of the "Terminator", and when I saw the Will Smith film "I Robot" I became even more sure of it.

I'd never seen The Birds so I watched it this afternoon. It was made in 1963 so sixty years old. Seeing the children at the school I realised that they are all close to my age now. Now that is frightening.

Rod Taylor if I remember rightly.  I used to like him, I saw him in a film once set in the Congo, about diamonds but I've forgotten the name of it. It was exciting stuff with hundreds of Mau Mau chasing them as a train was leaving.  The Mercenaries ! I had to Google it or would have been wondering all night .  I'm rambling again.....

Cassandra

Alex, yes it was 'The Mercenaries' 1968, you reminded me. I've got it as a DVD recorded from a TV showing from way back when! Kenneth More also starred. Makes me want to watch it again!

I thought his best performance however was as HG Wells in 'The Time Machine' (1960)?

One of the few actors I'd watch a Film for just because he was in the cast and he's never disappointed me.

God bless Rod and thank you.

Yes I saw the Time Machine too Cass,  :upvote:
He was an Australian wasn't he, although he moved to Hollywood for the work.

Got that one too, The Terminator 1965. Although I'd watch it as much for the gorgeous 'Jill St John'.
