Precursor tip for those who just steal all their pics from somewhere else.

If you right click on an image on a windows PC you get the option to "Save Image As" so do that and there is the image you use in the original tutorial.

On my Android tablet pressing on the image gives an option to "Download image"

If you have Apple kit it is supposed to be intuitive so away you go and intuit.

====

** Images can be saved as attachments now but will be deleted as space runs out. Plus they usually appear as thumbnails to start with and there are size limits. In short better to host externally...

====

Step 1 Visit https://postimages.org/
Step 2 Optionally create an account - I'm hoping this should not need any explanation.
Step 3 Log in if not already logged in and you have registered an account.

You should see a page with something similar to this on it...

The topmost of the options, here showing default (42), is the name your image will be grouped under on your account and how many images are already there. No need to change it unless you want to group your pictures for easier future access.

I recommend that the next is set as shown 640x480 (for message boards) which will ensure you don't post something which will force people to scroll to see all of it as larger images will be resized.

The third can be left at no expiration.

Step 4 Click on Choose Images which will bring up a popup window you use to select your image file on your device.

Step 5 Find your image, click on it then click on Open and the next window you see should be...

There are now two easy to use options Thumbnail for forums: or Hotlink for forums:
The first will result is a small version of your picture appearing in your post which when clicked will cause a window to open showing the full size (or resized to 640x480 max if you chose that option) picture.
The second will result in your (resized) picture appearing directly in your post.

Step 6 Click on the icon to the right of your chosen option and it should go blue and "copied" appear as shown in the previous image. This means that the text necessary to make your picture or thumbnail appear in your post is stored in your devices clipboard.

Step 7 Return to your post and you can paste that text into your post using whatever method your device supports (windows right click mouse / paste or keyboard CTRL-V. Android press and choose paste. Mac ask the ghost of Steve Jobs as I have no clue).

Adding images from external sites using the add image icon indicated below....

PLEASE NOTE. Some websites will block you posting their images into other websites. Showing those images uses their bandwidth and potentially breaches their copyright.

First you need to copy the image url into the clipboard. From the page the image is on right click on the image and select copy image address...

Then click the add image icon....

Which produces this dialogue box....

Paste in the URL you copied and click insert. The image you chose will be pasted in...
