I'm sure your friend felt better for your chat Mups.  Glad your dog's on the mend too.

Good luck with the eye op Vlad, hope all goes well. I too am a devout coward when it comes to pain, I had my cataract done under a GA. 😴

As the day came to a close
Bert started a bad runny nose
He cursed and he muttered
And a few swear words he uttered
I won't mention the ones that he chose!

Andy liked to have a bet
Sadly, he'd won nothing yet

It's been a funny old day.
I had a moan to the hospital this morning about one of their staff,  who was both uncaring and unpleasant, and had really upset me.
Then to my surprise someone rang me back a little later and was really nice and kind and sorted me out with an appointment to go in soon.   What a difference.

Then I had a couple more things to sort out,  before having a bite to eat and then was off out this afternoon to a place I haven't been before to get some special compost I wanted.

On the way home I stopped by a friend's house only to find her quite down in the dumps,  so we had a cup of tea, and a good natter and put the world right.    I left her,  I hope,  feeling a little happier again.

One of my dogs who I said earlier in the week had been very poorly all weekend,  ending up with me taking her to the vet twice on Monday!   She was shaking and looked like she was going to collapse.
Back to the vets pretty damn quick again,  because I was terrified she was going to have a stroke.   I was bawling by then,  because that is how I lost this one's grandma.

It turned out, they thought that my the poor dog may have had a bad reaction to an injection they had given her  that morning!     They said to give it 12 hours and if she was no better, to take her back again.
Anyway,  by this morning she was about 90%  better,  and  has steadily improved all day today.
She is now able to eat and drink practically normally again,  thank God.   Fingers crossed she will be back to 100% in another day or two.

Time to switch off and had a good sleep now, and hope tomorrow will be a good day.
Goodnight all,  sweet dreams.

The Russian army has been fighting Ukraine since February 2022 in an operation that was supposed to take Ukraine in a couple of weeks and is still failing. The initial invasion attempt was thwarted before all the arms donations.

Russia are losing around 1,000 soldiers and plenty of military hardware a day to gain a bit of countryside in the east.

They still don't have complete control of the bits they annexed apart from Crimea which they snatched in 2014.

In the last few days Ukraine destroyed about a third of Russia's strategic nuclear bombers on airfields some  thousands of kilometres from Ukraine.

There has been another strike against the Kerch bridge the Russians built to Crimea seriously damaging one of the massive supports.

Tell me how can you consider that army to be the strongest in the world behind NATO (which is essentially the US and small change).

Quote from: Ruthio on June 04, 2025, 04:35:50 PMMay one politely enquire why?
Indeed you may, the cataract replacement lens I had fitted some 3 years have thickened and made my vision cloudy, so the plan is to bore a small hole through the lens with a laser, this will allow more light through an improve my vision...that's the plan anyway...😀

Quote from: JBR on June 04, 2025, 01:43:10 PMReally?  I bet you screamed in pain when the RSM shouted at you!
Indeed but more of a scream of frustration that I had been caught again and  that I was going to get a few extra duties....which would always start with something like this, "Vlad! The razz man wants your boots in his in tray NOW!"
