Inflation

Is currently running at 9% and is expected to rise further. I have two sources of income – the state pension and my NHS pension. In net terms the state pension has increased by 3.8%, the NHS pension by 2.2%. Overall, combining the two, the increase is 2.8%, so my income is effectively reducing by over 6% and I have no doubt that many others are in a similar situation – and many others even worse hit. The effect of this rise in inflation, fueled by price rises in essentials, especially energy, means that unless some action is taken to bring inflation under control, a lot of people are facing some very difficult times indeed.
Oh, and in view of the talk of a 3.1% rise in the state pension - that must be the gross figure.

We've sure had some rainy days in the last two years, with more to come, that my mother told me to save up for.
