I thought you said you were teetotal. Or is it teetotal like granny in the Royale Family. (and plenty of the real royals too)

If you saw the number of typos I've had to correct (and still am) in this little post you may conclude that I may have beaten you to it.

Happy New Year. Drink up. I may not see another. As my old grandad used to say while standing on the table. One year the drunken poor old sod was right of course.

i had one about ten last night then hit the hay, what a waste of time that was, it was like Beruit,  from 11.00 till fifteen minutes after midnight, then sporadic till gone one, having said that it was the mildest ne'erday i can remember... but i smiled remembering my worst when i got proppery blotto, early afternoon the following day i was laid on my Grans sofa nursing the mother and father of hang-overs when there was a knock on the door, twas a wee girl holding a size ten shoe... well as i came from a land of quite small folk she asked 'is this Crabbies shoe? and it was... oh the shame of it, how on earth might one lose a shoe, i only ever wear lace-up shoes...

I always say like Beirut. It was here too but what I wonder is it still like that there or has whatever the original conflict was that launched the expression been resolved. Being idle I'll let somebody else Google it for me

The pubs round here seem to be closing down due to staff being off sick.  We had a booking at the local to have a meal with friends last Wednesday and the pub phoned us to cancel due to not having kitchen staff.  They stayed open for drinks but since then two more locals have closed.

A neighbour was telling us that she started to shop in Asda yesterday and then discovered the single file for the till went right round the shop and the wait in it was two hours!

I've been thinking about starting to use Scan & Go and that seems like a better idea now!

I don't think I'll manage a little drinkie unless we venture out to the shops.  All we have left over is a little bit of brandy.

Like Alex I had a pink gin and tonic, or two, yesterday evening, OH was on the malt in honour of Hogmanay.  Face timed with son and family, and went to bed about 1am. Fell asleep on sofa after lunch, no drinks tonight!

i never associated Beruit with Terry Waites.... i know it was always looked on as the pearl in the oyster, a place of beauty and wonder, destroyed no doubt by greed, but has been quiet since 1990-ish
but desperate as i am...naaarrr...lol..
