Watched this new-release film last night and I'm not really sure what to say about it other than it's a Wes Anderson project and very peculiar with an enormous ensemble cast..

Not much of  a salesman are you zoony

I try to be nice but I was a bit baffled. Is the nicest thing I can say. Great thing is, with downloads one has lost nothing but the time it took to watch.

As my assets in the time department are far from infinite I tend to bale out if don't get gripped within half an hour. Sometimes less. I may miss out on some cracker by doing so but better than wondering why I bothered after a couple of hours.

For instance I enjoyed series 1 and 2 of Westworld but only episode 1 of series 3. I've had folks tell me it is good and may go back but I have more to watch already in stock that time left to watch them.

I remember leaving it when I/it lost the plot. Always sad for a good thing to end but sometimes it's like visitors and fish.

I can't remember who mentioned Bosch, but I'm hooked on the programme now and am already up to Series 4

I've done the first 3 seasons of that. I was dubious after episode one but then got into it. On a break at the momement. Downloaded all 6 seasons of Grimm recommended by Raven(?) and have watched the first episode which was odd to say the least. As with Bosch though I'll try some more.

Similar sort of idea to A Discovery of Witches https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2177461 which I didn't really get in to but may revisit. They seem to have both stolen the Harry Potter idea of magical folk being real and living amongst us. I am a fan of the Potter books and thought the story cleverly built. I've listened to the Jim Dale version of the audiobooks many times.

Raven

I have them all on audio book form but I much prefer Steven Fry doing the reading. The guy doing the follow up ones of Harry's Sons at Hogwarts is good as well, so are the stories lots of the same people from Harry's day but now grown up of course.

zoony

I quite enjoyed the Potter at Hogwarts films and admire J K Rowling's imagination but preferred the two Fantastic Beasts films with Harry Redmayne.

The Potter films are very much cut down versions of the books. While the only mention in book form of Fantastic Beasts is as a book on the reading list for the  Care of Magical Creatures course plus, I think, a small bonus book produced for some special event. I have the Fry versions of the books too and will give them a try next time I listen. I gave up on him probably because I'd got used to Jim Dale's reading  already.

in the midst of all this BLM chatter i watched a movie called 'Harriet' and really enjoyed it...

Looks like a female version of Roots in a film rather than a series. Does kumba belonga still mean a river in it

Thanks I'll have a look when I'm back on the lappy.

Really don't enjoy Stephen Fry these days. Too much faux modesty and self-deprecation.. creepy. I also can't help thinking of him as a predatory gay bully/abuser. Too oily for me nowadays.
