I used to love the Eurovision Song Contest, back in the day when we had real songs with melodies, real singers and they sang in their own language.  Today its just political and what has Europe come to when a young girl needs police protection to be in a singing contest.

Quordle is four wordles. Any guess you enter is applied to each of the four. There are two forms daily and sequence.  With daily a guess is applied to all four immediately. With sequence they are solved one at a time but with all prior guesses applied to each in turn.

Octordle is essentially the same idea except there are eight wordles. There is another type of puzzle too. At the start you take over from a rather inept player who has made four guesses already and have to solve all eight. You get nine guesses to do that. If you solve it with a guess in hand you score 9. One bad guess you score 8. Both are wins of course. It can be very tricky. Less luck is involved than any of the other games.

To win in these games it is essential that you don't chase down a solution to just one of the puzzles or you'll probably fail to solve them all.

My own technique is to use the most common letters in my guesses first and not repeat letters already used early on. I solve the anagrams and part anagrams revealed in turn. Bit trickier for the sequence versions. I'm boring and always use the same 3 starters with a couple of options for a fourth if and when needed. I think Mac likes to use different words and puts a premium on using the vowels early. I don't because I don't like repeating letters other than when I have to.

The games offer a practice option which is well worth trying first. Plenty of times till you get the hang of hoe to succeed using your own methods.

I thought I'd try this.  Five-letter words are enough for now, thanks.  Quordle is probably beyond me.
God knows what Octordle is!

They'll have gto eventually. 5 million static turbines are outclassed by a £300 Honda petrol generator when the wind don't blow and when it does there is no way of storing any excess energy.

noise of those supposedly cooking it

We had one of those. Volume was an excellent measure of his blood alcohol level. Other times he was fine for the most part. Not that we were ever friends - no barbeque invites and we wouldn't have wanted one.

Three reasons why I dread the Summer -

i.   It is too hot - anything over 60f and I am done for!

2.   The thunderstorms that usually arrive with the good weather.  Having had 3 x close encounters of the very scary kind - I fear them!

3.   Barbeques - the stench of the food and the noise of those supposedly cooking it - just nasty!
