As it is many of us , that is those of us in our twilight years to which many of us, including myself, are on pills or tablets of some sorts, then health shops sell all manner of pills and tablets to which are to enhance or hope fully improve the benefits of taking supplements,

so with all the pill popping are we in danger of over dosing as with these chemicals swallowed as we take our daily dosage is it really good for us
having so many additives which to my mind could clash and cause us real problems health wise, or is it that these health pills are simply a money maker,

in reality almost harmless and making us think they are essential and beneficial for us to improve our health,
as it is many people having been subscribed as a result of seeing your doctor to which on each and every packet which says if you suffer side effects stop taking them and consult your doctor, immediately

Q;  so what are your thoughts . are people taking far too many pills and tablets and are they really beneficial to us,

I've been on High Blood Pressure Tablets for a long time now. Every time I try to stop them my BP shoots up again.

A necessary evil at our stage perhaps but I'd rather take a refined pill version of a drug than try and chew stewed roots twice a day.. :hmm:

I was fine untill my knee pain became so bad, the doc put me on full strength Naproxn 2 pills 4 times a day. Yes they worked and the pain was greatly reduced, but they shot my BP through the roof. Because of my age the surgeon refused to operate, said I had to be 60. My knee was injured when I was 42. He eventually operated when I was 57, he had no choice, but the Naproxn took a toll on my BP as I was on them for about 5 years.

I'm on all the "normal" prescription tablets that us "oldies" take. Was suffering very badly from cramp in my leg muscles, especially at night, very painful. A friend told me to take Magnesiun tablets which you can get from health food shops, so gave it a go, no more leg cramps, don't know if that's a physical effect or psycological thing.

Moral is, if it makes you feel better, carry on taking the pills !!

ME

Im on tablets for hypothyroidism for life and told that I would become very ill if I failed to take them. I need to have a blood test and a medication review about twice a year but it got cut down to once a year with covid.

I get cramps in my leg or foot on odd occasions during the night or even when driving , I drink a couple of glasses of Tonic Water a couple a times a week as it contains Quinine works for me saves asking the GP for a prescription for Quinine
