Chips here get fried in a hot air fryer. Less mess less pong. Usually whatever you are having with them goes in too.

We had a deep fat frier and something went wrong. Could hardly see across our small kitchen for the smoke. Mum was very upset

I binned my chip fryer about the time I binned my ex  :yahoo: :yahoo:
Air fryers are the way to go now Alfred, as klondike says no smell plus I use paper liners to save on mess.

I have never had a chip fryer.. Too smelly..
I just cut a potato into chips.. boil until soft .. sprinkle some olive oil over them .. put in frying pan.. cover with saucepan lid..
Turn on fan extractor..
