so where else has this government squandered money, where it could have been spent and used to better such as now with the energy crisis,

Home Office officials have admitted that the total cost of housing asylum seekers in hotels is almost £5 million per day — four times as much as they told MPs.
Tricia Hayes, the deputy permanent secretary at the Home Office, yesterday told MPs that it was costing £1.2 million per day to accommodate asylum seekers in hotels.
The department has been forced to issue a clarification today, admitting that the total daily cost of housing asylum seekers and Afghan refugees in hotels is £4.7 million — equivalent to £1.7 billion a year.

While we are paying for these so called asylum seekers wether its 1.2 or 4.7 million a day, our own people don't know which way to turn to pay their ever rising bills.
We keep this lot of dinghy boy scum, we send millions in aid to Afganistan, to a corrupt country that has hived off the money and left their people to starve, god knows what we are sending in aid to other countries. The PPE money wasted fiasco, and god knows what else.
We have been told today, the proposed £250 help with fuel bills will have to be paid back by us later. Do asylum seekers have to pay back their keep if they are granted asylum? we all know the answer to that one don't we.
While our people can't pay their bills, working people need foodbanks to feed their children, WHY do we waste our tax payers money on foreigners who we owe nothing to when we are so desperate ourselves?

they would doubtless tell us that we don't see the 'bigger picture'. Well. to my mind folk here struggling to make ends meet whilst billions are wasted is quite a big enough picture.

Is there any politician or party who could do things differently? No government in my memory has had to deal with anything like Covid. Or even Brexit. It must be great to be in opposition when the current government is floundering.
I'm not saying Boris is doing a good job, there's lots wrong, just wondering what real alternatives there are.

When Tories cut aid, it certainly did not go down well with the Labour party.
Putting immigrants into hotels will come to an end soon with covid now under control. Hotels will want tourist who have more spending power.

Further to my last post about asylum seeks not paying back their freebee accomodation money when they can work after being given asylum.
Wouldn't that be a way forward to discorage them? If they had to pay back any money spent on them, I know we would probably never see any of it, but it would send back a message that we are not such a soft touch.
We are to be in fuel debt why they get their electric and gas for free, something very wrong here. If I were a British homeless person I'd be down to Dover pull up a dinghy, "me no speakee English, asylum".
Homeless? Good tip for some pensioners too I'd say. Get shot of the vat, get shot of the green subsidies and that still won't be enough.
