If anything.
The partygate report which says he told porkies?
This report that says more dinghy boys arrived yesterday than all of January 2021?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10459845/Six-times-migrants-crossed-Channel-boat-January-month-year.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490
The May council elections?
Something we don't know about yet?
Or will he go on to usher in solutions to all the ills that face us (energy prices, inflation, dinghy boys for starters) win the next election with a stonking majority and continue to 3 terms and beyond?
I reckon he'll be lucky to get to May myself.
For some reason the dinghy boys problem doesn't get much of an airing in the MSM. When you talk to people, they worry about the energy price hikes first, then illegal immigration second, stuff the garden parties. Is it safe to say those in parliament will live in nice areas, in nice houses ? None of them will have groups of dinghy boys congregating at the end of their streets.
If they give Boris the push and elect a new leader, probably Sunak, will he fair any better ? I doubt it he'll face exactly the same problems.
I, for one, do not want to see Boris go..
But he is teetering over the edge.
They (Conservatives).. Should be sticking together ..If they show that they have no confidence in their leader it will make the voter even less confident in the party..
They should ride the storm and do something positive to appease the voters..
The problem is it isn't only Tories that don't trust Boris

Well it seems pretty obvious to me that 'Partygate' requires no effort whatsoever by the opposition, whereas coming up with ideas about the dinghy immigrants, the world-wide fuel crisis, the Ukraine etc does.

Of course they will Alex, the sort that gets to be Prime Minister will never know the problems that are important to us the ordinary people, we want someone who is far more down to earth and lives in the real world. As I have said before, I am far more concerned with the invasion of Britain by the dinghy people than Ukraine.
it beggars the question,.
do you think Boris is doing a good job as prime minister,
and has sunak the chancellor, done a good job as he asset strips almost every thing. and yet manages to give the M.Ps a whopping pay rise which makes me wonder just how much debt he,s got us into and why is he giving M.Ps a whopping £10,000 a year pay rise each, and at the same time ,.
the pandemic was extraordinarily costly. Given that he has somehow to find ways to pay back those costs - or they will still be being a burden to our grandchildren, tax rises are inevitable. How that can be squared with a big rise for MPs when the man and the woman in the street are facing ever greater costs, is a mystery to me.
Mike
Thats how i see it mike,
BJ will just keep kicking the can down the road.
Let's hope that it's a Cul de SACK !
The first I have heard about pay rises for Boris and MP's. They have got a nerve when many people don't know how they will pay for their gas and electric after the price hike or pay the extra National Insurance contributions. How much pay rise are nurses getting 1% I think and pensioners have lost out on the triple lock this year.
Have just been watching the Last Czar's on Netflix, they were completely out of touch with the people and look what happened to them. Don't these people ever learn? I fear Starmer will be our next Prime Minister, heaven help us :nooo:
If they get elected he probably won't be PM for long. The party will oust him and we'll get our first Marxist PM. The Labour Party rules make them unelectable IMO let alone prats like Starmer.

exactly right Phil, they have no answers only questions, any student can ask a cogent question, but it takes a 'master' to answer them
Confucius he say 'world's greatest fool can ask question world's wisest man cannot answer'
Mike
They could til somebody came up with Google...
Not necessarily the correct answer of course.

In a nutshell. Some very big issues at the moment, all taking a back seat to who drank what, where and with whom.
and, maddening though this disregard of that to which others have been expected to comply - it is totally insignificant in the context of the overall problems we are facing
Mike
Politicians will always have pay rises. Whatever party is in power..
This party business has gone on far too long.. Boris knows he is a prat.. and we all know it too.. BUT.. Parties can leave hangovers and Boris is suffering with the biggest headache ever.. I hope he finds a remedy .. pretty soon..
The person keeping it alive is Dominic Cummings..
He must have spent his time in Downing Street gathering evidence .. watching every move.. lurking and looking.. A sneaky Uriah Heep...
I bloody hate Dominic Cummings..
not as much as Boris does I'll bet
Nothing I hope.
Any replacement would face the same problems, I wish the press and Labour party would draw a line under this now and let's get on with the important things facing us.
I agree Alex people are now getting bored with the endless sob stories. Time to move on.
It won't happen though.
You have to realise that a politician's main skill is lying.
So it's a sin to be caught.
That's why "Misleading the House" (i.e. getting caught standing up in the HoC and telling a pack of porkies) has always been a resigning offence.
He argues that he hasn't been proven to be lying. Everybody with a ha'porth of sense would add to that "yet" because the only reason there is no proof at the moment is because it has been held back while the police twiddle their thumbs wondering what to do investigate the evidence.
Liking Boris, realising that the rest are a bunch of useless gits or any other issue with him going will not stop the remorseless move towards that conclusion which this episode is following.
He'll either resign or the way the polls on public trust and voting intentions look mean the new MPs with paper thin majorities and who have discovered all the wrinkles in screwing the most out of their new positions will not be best pleased if it looks like they may lose them so the knives will be out and Caesar Boris will fall.
I doubt he will resign.. I also doubt a ' no confidence ' vote...
They should just ride it out and wait for the elections to come up in a couple of years.. It can't be any worse then it is now ... but it can get better..
they are pedants not politicians, you and i could write out what Starmer and the SNP are going to say, and neither is asking a question that might help their constituents... yes Boris was wrong, and he will be wrong again, but whoever replaces him will be step backwackwards, unlike replacing Starmer whose demice would certainly help his party....
Dont you dare resign Boris...

There are council elections in May which will show which way the wind is blowing. If he makes it to then there is a chance that this will have become chip wrappers.
Names are rolling in now, so I am sorry to say Boris days are very much numbered.
I think that they are making a big mistake
Mike
I agree with you Mike, most of them are doing it to save their jobs but it will just make things worse. We could end up rejoining the EU which would take years of messing about at a huge cost.
which is just about the worst possible outcome
Mike
Worst outcome would be a confidence vote he survives. We saw enough of a crippled PM with May. The country needs somebody with their party behind them. Regardless of any vote result just to have an election would say he is crippled.
Crap kicking off in Ukraine
Crap kicking off with the EU now the NI Unionists have lost patience
We need a strong leader now more than ever. BS about levelling up isn't going to do it.

I feel the same as you crabbyob. If Boris does go heaven help us as I cannot think of anyone else who would be up to the job.

Nor can I. The problem is neither is Boris now he's walking around with all those knives hanging out of his back. I can't see any other outcome than Boris falling. All I ask is "Don't shoot the messenger".
Isn't it a poor show that we can't think of anyone in Parliament who would make a good and strong Prime Minister to follow Boris, what a shower they all are and whats worse we the public voted for them all.
Well I voted for what they said that would do not what they ended up doing.
well there was that, and I also voted to keep Labour out
Mike (doesn't mean that I voted twice!)
we heard you the first time...
it was said a long time ago that if labour lost Scotland it would condem the UK to tory rule...., that turned out to be true, but even with a mega majority they are ripping their party apart...
They are fools.. behaving like fools..
The idiots are running the asylum..
They need to close ranks.. and bloody quickly..
Instead of all this back stabbing..
Its all about the remainers taking revenge, they went from the front to the back, and now they have the chance to get rid of Boris, and take us back into the EU.
Going back into the EU isn't going to happen.
Odd it's a lot of remainers causing the trouble.
People are fed up with it all..
Brexit... Covid.. Parties..
I doubt they would put up with Remainers trying to get us back into the EU..
They just want things back to normal now..
Remainers want revenge. Cummings wants revenge. People want a PM that gets on doing what the manifesto promised, doesn't do a bunch of very expensive stuff it didn't mention, sorts out the bloody dinghy boys and doesn't tell a load of porkies. The porkies might be forgiven if all the other stuff got done but few believe it will. I certainly don't.
Staff resigning in number 10, I wonder if they got out before being kicked out by Boris :?: :?: :?: :?:
Not sure but he could hardly sack them for attending parties organised by him and Carrie could he? Or given they had organised some any others either.
Will the departing staff have a leaving party?
with social distancing?
Mike
Fed up with the lot of them.. Put an end to this Tom Foolery and get on with running the country.. A job that you are all well paid for..
my sentiments exactly
Mike
Couldn't agree more :check:
I believe Boris gave the staff far to much freedom and he his now paying the price. The staff are now using any reason to get out before before being shown the door. Pleased to see the media not being fooled.
Quote from: Scrumpy on February 04, 2022, 09:13:29 AMget on with running the country.. A job that you are all well paid for..
I fear that most of them couldn't run a whelk stall on Blackpool prom in high season.
but i bet all of them attended the right school
I wonder if those who have left attended those parties and are jumping before they are pushed?
I know it's boring, but let's remind ourselves of what people are actually demanding the PM resigns over.
a) Giving a work speech to work colleagues in a garden
b) Being given cake by his work colleagues between meetings
c) Being 50 miles away when other people held an actual party.
Not my words but I echo them
on my scale of wrong doers those shouting in parliament for his resignation are away above Boris.
so shouldnt the cabinet have held meetings :?: , we just know the opposition were holding meetings on what to shout about, but of course they all observed social distancing... mental pygmies all of them :yell:
John Major climbed on the 'Boris out' bandwagon ! now there a fine upstanding man..... this is from The Spectator:
In belatedly clambering aboard the creaking anti-Boris bandwagon over partygate, Major is at least demonstrating one thing that becomes plainer by the day: the chorus of denunciation of Johnson and his administration appears to have less to do with illicit parties, wine glugging, and cake scoffing, than with the 'Blob' exacting revenge for Brexit.
John Major..!! The pot calling the kettle..!
yes he had proper parties
All people who believe in BREXIT should hope he his not brought down. The person who is likely to replace him could well be a remoaner and will go soft with the EU, and we will not get what we want. If he has broke the rules then he should pay an heavy fine, but stay put, doing his job. Labour Party and the SNP should not be allowed to win.
I am a Leaver.. and I hope Boris keeps his job..
To be honest, I feel he is safe now that party gate has now run out of steam.
in my opinion Boris will need no help to fail, he will just open his mouth just that bit too far and swallow himself...
People are asking who could take over, that may be what's stopping 54 letters being submitted to the committee.
The police haven't concluded their partygate investigation yet.
Despite the massive majority two years back in the polls the Tories are currently trailing by anything up to 10 points in the polls.
There are council elections coming in May.
I don't think it is over yet.
If they have a Tory MP and he or she doing a good job they should not get rid of. To me that is plain common sense. Polls I take with a pinch of salt.
He is not listening to anyone or taking any notice of what TV programs keep telling him on our behalf. Worse still he keeps that home secretary, who just hasn't a clue whats going on, in her job.
I think with what's going on in the world now do we have anyone who could lead us any better? there are more serious things to worry about.
As a member of Momentum I can tell you that you don't know what's coming down the line if enough voters are duped into ditched the Tories.
I don't need to know in detail - just the very thought of the loony left in charge is enough
Mike

Do you take notice of what TV programmes tell you Hugh ?
Alex if you watch GB News you get a lot of common sense and views from the public, Nigel Farage had a program in Blackpool where fracking gas is. They want fracking to go ahead and create many good paid jobs. Is Boris listening or taking any notice NO.
i think how he is allowing the energy companies to wring every penny out of the UK might just be the straw that will break Boris...
he needs to step in and take control of these thieves.....

You've forgotten Hugh, but it was ' over the road' and me who tried to get you to watch GB News from the very first broadcast, but you wouldn't have it ! I'm glad you persevered.

:?: :?: :?: :?: Cannot remember this Alex, but not worth arguing over. Sky news are are really driving viewers away with Kay Burley type interviewers. The best people seem to be moving away from sky and BBC and going to GB News. I record Nigel Farage programs which I found interesting and fair.
Maybe it was someone else.
My memory not as good as it should be Alex, but your advice on GB News was certainly a good one, to me or who ever it was.
Having binned my TV licence watching Farage on catch up is the limit of my TV news watching. As most news of late is pretty depressing I don't read much news either.
