... have you got loads of snow. !!
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

ooooh bet he has, he'll be off down to his local on that snow mobile   :yay:

No its very scattered. If we get a sprinkle say 3 inches, it only lasts a brief while as the winds are coming across from the West, so clouds gather moisture as they traverse the lake and that results in sleet or rain. It's been pretty cold though and its a good job that our electric is about a third the price of yours. The dogs are hogging the warm spots (normally me) but the little one's favourite is on top of the Rangemaster (USA version of an Aga) in the kitchen! There's also no canine enthusiasm for when I visit the horses! Although that said, Albert's curiosity to see them, coupled with the fact that he's almost my siamese twin, usually spurs him into action. Plus he's got the densest coat and is one intrepid little bugger.

We are on a Snow alert now and have warnings of 4-6 inches, to here thats nothing and the ploughs have that cleared quickly. As I look out now, it's clouded over, but earlier I could see the distant mountaintops were capped white. The Lakeside in contrast is misty. These times can be very dangerous on the lakes in general as quite severe blizzards can start up with only minimal warning.

Can you take a photo through your window of the view Cass  ?  The mountain tops sound lovely with snow.  I know it can be a pain, but I love the snow, we always had quite a bit in Germany but here we don't get any, very rare if we do.

a sprinkle say 3 inches

That's enough to close down roads and railways here

I'm a bit shaky one handed with the camera, but I asked one of the lads who are finishing off the stables to take my big Canon, from years ago with all the lens etc and he got these, which I thought were quite good.Wake up view.jpegView from Boat Shed .jpegView up the creek .jpegMy wood taken from 'next door'.jpeg

The 'Wood' is supposed to be just under an acre, in fact physically (by drone laser camera area app) it's well over 3 (about the size of sixty tennis courts and surrounds)! It's all properly registered and can never be built upon. I just think upon preparing the sale details for the property, the 'official solicitor' who sold it as a 'parcel', as my seller had died intestate and with no relatives etc, couldn't be bothered to detail it, and just described a 'wooded area' about an acre! Same thing applied to many other things including a small tractor, firearms, a nearly new pick up truck, pumps, a summer house, a custom built under floor heating oil tank and complete secondary heating set up (unused)! They just wanted to 'close the file'.

It's freezing (literally) just now, but incredibly clear. Someone was up the top of the mountain in the 1st picture with a heliograph earlier on and it was incredibly clear to read it.

We're going to start the first of a couple of bridges across the creek in the new year, as it spans my wood and sort of divides it past the clearing. It'll be a typical simple American retro wooden affair. I can get through on horseback by wading, but it will freeze over very soon and my friends are nervous the horse might throw me (unintentionally) if there was a slip!

Thanks Alex, it's so wonderful, that I hardly leave the property, not that I'm a recluse, it's just so wonderful to explore and the wild life for me is extraordinary to behold. In the harsher weather now around, I feed hosts of birds and 'little critters' who refuse to hibernate from my saddlebags and you form real friendships with these in most cases, tiny creatures who come to trust me. Even 'Albert' - always a terrier at heart is changing, although I always have him in a pannier across my horse, just in front of me just in case, there are lynx's around although you rarely see them as they see you first!

Phil so glad to share the views. My late wife got the Canon shortly before she died. It's digital of course, but for me heavy, My young helpers advise me I can get a sort of one third sized lightweight version on Amazon for about $80 and that all the lens are interchangeable. The clarity id over 100% better as well, 25 years on!

I must say to open the shutters this morning and sit up in bed with three dogs with a magnificent pot of coffee, watching the mirror flashing from the range, now completely white was really uplifting on my birthday.
