For lovers of nostalgia there is a series like this for different counties...

We had one of those books or one similar at least and I was surprised to find thet there were still houses with only outdoor privvies in the town right into the sixties. This place was built around 1900 and I think it had an indoor one right from the start.

the first house we rented in Doncaster in 67-68 had an outside loo and tho not tin, the bath was under the stairs, in the kitchen...

our house in 1947 had an outside loo, plus no electricity and only candles for illumination other than the gas mantles in the two main downstairs rooms - even the kitchen used candles

We used to visit one of my grandma's sisters (there were quite a few - 12 children in the family from 2 husbands) in a nearby village and I'm pretty sure that had an outside loo. Probably not running water either. It was an old Northampton stone cottage that was called the hovel for some reason. Probably worth £¾m now...

We had an outside loo, my Dad used to take me down there if it was dark, what I remember most is the spiders.
