so the Tories, unsurprisingly, have lost heavily, with 473 councilors losing their seats. What did surprise me was that only 185 of those losses were to Labour, with the other opposition parties gaining 288 seats.

I wasn't at all surprised, I'm a member of Momentum & there is a huge, but totally unreported, utter contempt for Starmer & the official Labour Party by many former staunch Labour supporters.

What I find discouraging is that Reform gained only two seats in the local elections!

I am still hoping to see a stronger reaction in their favour in the general election.
