Post by: Alex on April 26, 2022, 12:21:11 PM
I know a few of us are coffee lovers on here so I'm sharing these goodies I found in Lidl of all places.

I buy my coffee beans in Lidl. No huge surprise as most of my stuff comes from there. I haven't noticed the coffee bags but probably because I never looked for them.

They weren't with the coffee section but in the place they have foreign foods, near the freezers in my Lidl shop.  I go in there quite a bit, love their Potato Salad made with Creme Fraiche and I always buy their Low GI bread it's really nice, especially toasted......gawd I'm rambling again.

You'll have Scrumpy complaining. Shopping bargains are her job.

We only drink instant, but it has to be Nescafe Gold Blend Alta Rica.  £4.50 in Sainsbury's, £2.99 in Lidl!  👍🏽

Lidl and Aldi, Home Bargains and B&M, Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's. All practically on our doorstep. We had a Co-op, closed, but we've never had a local Waitrose or M&S food.

Have been buying Kenco coffee in Farm Foods, was two for £8 now has gone up to £9, they don't put things up in pennies any more. Will try the coffee bags next time I go to Lidl.

We don't have Waitrose anywhere near us, obviously not posh enough in rural Wales.  Lots of Co-op's though which I find very expensive.

While on the subject of coffee, I love the coffee you get in coffee shops, is it worth getting one of these fancy coffee maker machines that does the froffy milk, anyone got one? My son gave me one of those you put pods in wasn't keen on that, want one you put real coffee in, are they as good as the coffee shops?

I bought one few months back. I like the coffee from it. They are not cheap but neither is Costa Mucho or Megabucks. If I'd paid the price they charge for every cup it would have paid for itself several times over.

I bought a Siemens EQ 300 from Argos. I paid £399 at the time but see that they are currently £380 there. One attraction for me was that the cleaning is easy.

I started a thread on it at the time.

We used to buy Nescafe Gold Blend but they changed it and it was horrible.  Is Alta Rica a different one?

I was in the queue at Tesco yesterday telling my cousin about copper tape to keep slugs away from Hosta plants (which she'd just bought) the cashier heard me and said she finds fresh coffee grinds are good for keeping slugs away from plants and she often pops over to Costco to get some !
