Title: Fatal error
Post by: Michael Rolls on December 15, 2021, 10:23:11 AM
Tried logging back in a few minutes ago and got a fatal error message. Tried twice more - same result. Now - obviously - I am back in, so perhaps it was something to do with me

I registered & made a few posts but then I couldn't log in & it showed my username didn't exist & my posts had disappeared, so I've re-registered.

Sorry. I was playing with some themes and a new one messed up so I had to restore database to last night's backup.

The errors you got Mike were caused by the new theme I tried and Phil's loss of login by the DB restore.
Welcome aboard both too.

Thanks Mark, I'd wondered if my VPN router was causing your system to reject my IP address.

Anyway many thanks for setting this up.

I'm still dubious about posting on the original PF.

Why? This isn't a replacement it's an in-case as it looks to me like Chris may just be giving up.

Yes, I realise it's not a replacement & you've set it up as a back-up to be used should Chris's PF cease to exist.

Thanks Cassandra, I was so pleased when I read about your move & your new life in the States.

I haven't posted on the "official" PF since September as I found it to have become quite a depressing place with posts being reported & removed & the veiled threat of members being reported to the police etc.

A while back I joined The Free Speech Union to which I subscribe & I chuck a few quid into the pot when we have a crowd-funding appeal to provide legal representation for people, mainly academics & other professionals, who have been sacked for expressing views that are contrary to those held by their employer.

We have had a good result whereby a Judge has warned employers that they risk penalties if they persist in this sort of thing.

However, it has made me realise that posting non-conformist views on social media has the potential to be risky if some malcontent seeks to make trouble.

Hi Phil, good to see you again. Yes, that was a difficult time which seems to've been seen off. Very unpleasant stuff and such arrogance!

Phil, thank you for the good wishes, I feel re-born somehow and like you being an animal lover I seem to be be increasing my acquaintance with a throng of new friends. Latest being a young 'White tailed deer' who comes very close to be fed and one of our national state bird, the Robin seems to live in an old 'mail box' on a tree. I'm going to set up some nesting boxes for the other wild birds in the new year.

I too took a four month break from PF, following an unwarranted unintelligent personal insult. I concur about risk too. Here things can get very hairy, elevated population expresses itself in a higher number of the nutter loud minority 'wokes'. Fully capable in some instances of physical violence!

At my age and after a lifetime of insults and suffering a life changing injury from an assault I just don't want to associate with bigoted ignorance and intolerance, hence my withdrawal from the 'other place'.

Hopefully this forum will reflect my feelings on this subject.

Unsurprisingly I fully support your movements views and actions, we (here and the UK) desperately need structured opposition to the worrying, uncontested minority ideology that confounds our proud principals of free speech etc. Well done you.
