Thinking about all the 'turn down the heating to save the planet and some money', last night I did just that. In the evening, when I am just sitting in the lounge either reading, watching TV or using the tablet to post on here and PF, I normally have the temperature at 22C-23C. Yesterday I had it at 20C - and after an hour had to get a blanket to wrap round me, I felt so cold. It's not that I was lightly clad - heavy shirt, fleece, lined trousers.
Without Veronica, my brother, my sister, my brother-in-law, even our little dog, I'm already miserable. Damned if I'm going to be cold as well.

decided to repeat the experiment this evening, only dressed even more heavily (I draw the line at overcoats indoors!😁😁)

Our CH is set at a constant 16c both downstairs & upstairs zones but the temperature usually continues to rise to about 17c after the boiler has shut down.
I wear normal light clothing & I'm ok with that.
With our house being only eight years old, it's insulation efficiency is probably as good as it gets at the moment.
Mine is usually set about 18°-20° I have one of those soft blankets by my chair for when I'm watching telly, that helps :upvote:
I keep my heating at 22C.. I put it on for a couple of hours in the morning.. and then again about 2 ish or when I decide to sit in the living room. I don't bother to put the heating on in the bathroom.. The shower warms me up.. I couldn't bear to turn my heating down..
I don't wear heavy clothing.. tee-shirt and joggers.. BUT I wear Ugg boots on my feet..

The problem is that your body will become acclimatised to whatever temperature you normally use so a person who sits in 30c will feel cold at 28c.
The human body doesn't recognise temperature, it recognises changes in temperature which is which I'd feel too hot at 20c.
No heating in the bathroom Scrumpy ? I can't think of anything worse than getting out of the shower into a cold room. I had the radiator in my bathroom changed a few years ago for one of those big upright ones, only problem is there's nowhere to hang your towel :grin:
We've got the 5ft high towel rail type of radiators in the bathroom & the en-suite so the towels are usually warm, plus I moved the upstairs zone thermostat into the bathroom so it's always as warm as the other rooms.

Lordy! I reckon I would die of shock getting out of the shower into an unheated bathroom. The main bathroom has a fairly large towel rail and - when I am having a shower - a heated floor - and even then every time I towel myself dry as quickly as possible, I hanker after the marvelous device in Dr. No, where Bond and Honeychile, after showering, are progressed though a mini version of a car wash heat cycle. Want one!

I too have the tall radiators in the bathroom..
I don't close any internal door in the house.. My heating goes on in the morning.. All bedrooms.. landing and stairs are heated.. The bathroom door is open.. I go from bed to shower.. No hanging about.. picking up warm underwear, that has been on the radiator, on the way..
I never sit in nightwear/dressing gown.. Always get showered and dressed first thing..
One of my tricks is to go outside, into the cold, for a short walk & when I get back into the house I feel really warm.

I feel I need the warmth and prefer it. Currently 24 in my room which will lower to 15 overnight.
Must say that as I get older I get more and more intolerant of extremes of temperature. I know that a few years ago I would not have felt cold sitting around in 20C, whereas now I do - and in summer time anything more than 24C starts to get to me - not that we often see that outside up here, but solar gain can see it inside

The annoying thing is that the UK only sources 5% of it's gas from Russia, the bulk of our gas still comes from the North Sea but as our North Sea gas has been privatised we have to pay international prices for our own gas.
North Sea gas & oil should be nationalised forthwith, using emergency powers, & VAT scrapped on energy.
Ever since it's inception I've been an avid supporter of nuclear energy, often pissing against the wind of tree huggers, but if we'd committed ourselves to nuclear energy we wouldn't be facing £3,000 per year energy bills.
I wish mine was only £3,000. Four years ago it was £1,800, This year it will be three time that

I'm just quoting what the average price is likely to be.
For the first time in my life I'm spending time giving serious thought to energy prices.
I predict a situation where I reduce our gas usage to an absolute bare minimum, only to find that our standing charge then increases to £2 per day.

We never could. I've always been too poor to gain from the Tories and so rich Labour tax me till my pips squeak.

Well, for example, if the standing charges for each of electricity & gas both become 0.50p per day, a duel-fuel user will pay £30 per month even if they use no energy.
