Title: Benefit Fraud
Post by: Alex on July 01, 2022, 02:14:21 PM
A failed Algerian asylum seeker who used five bogus identities to claim £370,000 in state handouts has been jailed for five years.

Said Boudemagh, 41, spent eight years submitting fraudulent benefits claims from his Upper Holloway council flat.

He was obviously too greedy, I imagine it would be easier to defraud the state by sticking to two identities  :busted:

He'll never get deported. Imagine five ECHR appeals, each demanding a right to a 'family life'!

I'm at a total loss to understand how this can have happened

Somewhere along the line there has had to be some Departmental internal collusion, it's too big a fraud to be explained away by just incompetence alone.

It's totally impossible for this type of fraud to be perpetrated if all the prescribed checking processes are carried out.

People I know have had a devil of a job claiming Universal Credit or any other benefit, he couldn't have been working alone, is this big business along the lines of the Asylum Lawyers?

I have just read Alex' post again.  A failed asylum seeker living in a Council flat? So even if you are rejected the Council will still house you?  Why was he not returned home?  There are genuine homeless legal people who could do with that flat.  No wonder the buggers come over on their dinghies they can't lose, and as a bonus they can fiddle and cheat the Benefits System, I expect it's all written in a Manual compiled and given to them by the Traffikers and Asylum Lawyers.

Us silly British have to provide proof of who we are, Birth Certificates, Passports etc. Many of these people are undocumented so they don't have the proof, we give them the benefit of the doubt it seems, five times in this blokes case.

Why don't we take DNA from foreign people when they arrive here and if they claim benefits they have to give DNA again and check it on the Data Base, oh sorry against their human rights I forgot!

It says he married a British National, that would entitle him to residency, might even have been his wife's tenancy. People like him should be deported.

But won't be because our politicians won't take the steps necessary to make that possible.

I wonder which one of his five name he used when he married? hopefully his right one or else the marriage wouldn't be legal?

I don't understand how he could claim under five different names, he would at least need five different addresses? five different proofs of who he is?  This is still puzzling me.

Not having seen his file it's hard for me to offer an actual explanation.

Usually in these cases there has been collusion by corrupt DWP staff, also usually having non-British ethnicity.

The corrupt DWP officer will tick checks as being done when in fact they haven't.

If the fraud doesn't involve DWP staff collusion, the only other method would be for the fraudster to obtain 5 sets of convincing identity documents & addresses which would be quite some task.

Also he'd need adresses that would cover for him when a DWP Compliance Officer visited & he wasn't there.

Can't imagine there are many cases of such complexity.  The bit that really pees me off is that he'll never be made to pay it back!
