Quarter past four and I've just drawn the curtains and put the lights on. Depressing.
It really is so depressing, raining and dark, I hate it too.
It is a long day.. shut in .. dark at around 4:30..
The talk seems to be whether the heating is on and how long for..
Mine's on at the moment, £7.57 and counting    dunno why I'm laughing..... :waiting:
dark at 1630 :boo: :boo:
The first thing my mate asks me when phoning.. 'Have you got your heating on'?
I tell her 'No'.. but I do have a warm jacket on ..
I am indoors .. dressed for outdoors..

Same here.
Understandably, the main topic of conversation revolves around energy costs & the shopping cost of living.
I had the CH function on for a few days with the stats set very low but I've switched it off again.
I do like the winter, it's the long summer days with daylight at 21:30 & back again at 04:30 that I don't like.

Yes I've heard of others who say the same...

Yes, it's no fun lying like that for 17 hours a day.
Lol. :upvote:
I think there is a case for putting the clocks forward in the winter. It was done to conserve energy in wartime, why not now?
It was tried. The Scots complained. 5m Scots 63m others in UK. Unlike football a win for Scotland.
We should have two time zones. Bit of practice for when Kranky wins her vote.

Are you sure? We had summer time and double summer time, but I don't remember the clocks going back
Mike
They must have gone back from double summertime to summertime.
OOOOH, Where did you get a pic of my Ex?

fair point - but I presumed Ashy meant back from GMT

We never put the clocks back from GMT and never have. Ashy said nothing about putting the clocks back at all.
My dog hates it more, she has to wait an extra hour before feeding.
:nooo: :nooo: :nooo:
What I meant was put the clock forward to GMT +2 hours and leave them there.
There is nothing absurd about having two time zones if the Scots want it different, the USA has 6 time zones and Canada has 9 zones, some of which do daylight saving and some don't.
We only adopted common time because the railways used it, and they probably still would.
Canada and the USA use different time zones because they are such enormous countries, and their zones are based on longitude, not latitude. Solar noon in New York, for example, is nine in the morning in Los Angeles. For businesses different time zones can be a damn nuisance

I bet they can. However I would point out that we change the clocks to BST in summer for political reasons, not because the island has moved.
the tree huggers are doubtless working on it!
