Title: Some things never change
Post by: klondike on March 26, 2022, 09:38:38 PM
I just took a look over at our parent board and saw this from dear old Brian54 in a thread about the chancellor's lack lustre spring statement entitled "the caring chancellor"

QuoteThe income tax reduction in 2024 will be useful to me if I am around then. I am not in to 40% but I am not far off it.
Made me chuckle.

Am amazing sort of chap is Brian. I can't imagine anybody more self centred.

He would have boosted the post count here for sure - all mickey takes at his imaginary friends and exploits and decrying his attitude to anybody less fortunate than he tells us he is. I have to say "tells us" because truth be told I can't even be sure his (or her) name is Brian as the porkies fly fast and frequent.

Not sure if I'm sorry you couldn't get him on board or relieved.

I struggle with Brian, at first I thought he was just daft. Now I'm not so sure, is he actually a clever guy playing us? OR, Is he really under the impression all the repeats are first time posts? I simply don't know, but 99% of the time I don't answer or read the replies.  :lipsrsealed: :lipsrsealed: :lipsrsealed:

It's what they are repeats of that bothers me more. If his medically qualified daughters are as attentive as he says they seem to be pretty unobservant or they'd be making sure he took any prescribed anti-psychotics. Unless they are just outright wind ups the delusions that get posted suggest to me that he needs some stronger or more regular treatment.

I never found him the least bit amusing, quite the opposite when he's wishing cancer on people. Leave him where he is. The last thing we need is such as him.

I think you should all do what I did when I joined here. Delete the old bookmark and move on.

I spent a lot of years on that board. Mostly good ones til The Deep and Sciatico arrived followed by the annoying frequent outages. I still look in from time to time and will probably continue to do so.

Ditto. I like to have a look in and I'm able to log in and opine if I feel like it..

I still look in most days, mostly for a read and the occasional post. But I do still post in some of the games to keep them going.

I had some great times on the site..
I was monitored by Chris at one point but all that has been lifted.. I never log in but , on occasions I look in.. There is nothing of interest to me.. It is 'same old' topics..
I guess most sites, after time, become a bit repetitious ..
Would I go back there?  I very much doubt it.. Certainly not while this forum is operating..

PF does have the advantage of being top of the pops in a search for "pensioners forum" so will still get new signons. We don't and the only new signups we have had is spammers and I think even they are blocked to a degree now.

I just delete out the fail to complete registrations and spammers but I'd guess Chris doesn't...

638479 Posts in 28257 Topics by 6906 Members.

Over the time I was there I don't recall there ever being more than maybe 40 members and turnover was slow.

Chris's forum won't let me add a moving pic to my signature. I found a lovely flying Raven but was refused. He seems to have sooooo much blocked.  :nooo:

You can blame me for that.

Sciatico bragged about his VPN. I serve a picture as my sig (the two random silly quotes below) It is easy to detect if a VPN is in use so Sciatico got a slightly different sig from everybody else  and obviously complained. Rather than tell me to desist Chris just blocked picture signatures.

That's all he seems to do to sort something out.  :waiting: He'll end up blocking the forum out of existence at this rate.  :nooo:

I don't think he visits the forum other than to delete stuff in respnse to complaints. If a feature is abused as I did with images in sigs then the easiest answer is to remove the feature. I think I was the only one using it anyway.

If people don't like what is in sigs or avatars come to that the option exists in their profile to not see either
