Dozens of giant turbines at Scots windfarms powered by diesel generators

Scottish Power admitted 71 of its windmills were hooked up to the fossil fuel supply after a fault developed with their power supply.

Dozens of giant turbines on Scotland's windfarms have been powered by diesel generators, the Sunday Mail can reveal. Scottish Power admitted 71 of its windmills were hooked up to the fossil fuel supply after a fault developed on the grid.


The firm said it was forced to act in order to keep the turbines warm during very cold weather in December. But a whistleblower has told the Sunday Mail the incident is among a number of environmental and health and safety failings.

The worker, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "The Scottish Government wants to make our country attractive to foreign investors as 40 per cent of the wind that blows across Europe blows across Scotland. However, that should not mean we put up with our waterways and nature being polluted with carbon from diesel generators and hydraulic oil.

So quite apart from producing no power when the wind don't blow they actually suck some out of the grid (except this time they couldn't and needed diesel backup generators) to stop them being damaged.

We clearly have the wrong clowns in charge, This bloke was the king of the Whitehall Farce...

Wind turbines operate within an ideal wind speed range. If there is too little wind, turbines won't produce much energy. If conditions are too windy, on the other hand, turbines can suffer from system damage. Ideally, turbines will operate in a range with wind speeds that average 15-25 MPH. Winds should have an average speed of at least 9mph in a given location in order to make wind turbines cost-effective.

It's just like the heat pump con as they're basically electrically powered heaters.

Wind turbines need an external power supply in order to operate, just as home heat pumps do.

The other day some guy on the telly amused me when he pointed out to a green lunatic that his  EV was powered mainly by gas & coal.

But where and how can you efficiently store electricity in the present time? Even with a million of the bestial things they'd still have to be turned off when gales blow and then paid £65k a day in Wayleave payments to be so uselessly employed?

Also whats their amortisation period, how long therefore before payback is achieved? So many pertinent questions the idiot greens won't answer? It simply needs a question addressed under the Freedom of Information Act to de-bunk this mystery? but it will never happen. A bit like Harry accepting a DNA test, cross referenced to the King?
