an appalling tragedy. A four year old little girl has been killed by what appears, from the scanty information to date, to have been a family pet, which had been destroyed. Information is very scanty other than those basic facts. My heart goes out to all concerned
These incidences are getting more common, I don't know what happened here, but a young child should never be left with a dog on their own.
My Dageus is a huge gentle giant, but I would Never leave him alone with a child. I even call him in to heel when a youngster comes running up to pet him. I won't let a child pet him untill he is sitting and all 4 feet are on the ground. I don't like when adults let a young charge run up to him, he would knock them over by just gently bumping against them.
Owners might think their pet wouldn't hurt a fly.. Any dog /cat is capable of turning on a human..
I wouldn't leave any child alone in a room with Bertie ( an old softie) or Lottie ( a big softie)..
I don't trust children around pets either..
My Grand-dogs are Beagles, the male Dave is soft as a brush, the female can be grumpy but my Grandson is never left alone with either of them.
I still believe there are no bad dogs, just bad owners. Only the other day I saw a photo on FB of a tot crawling into a dog's cage -with the dog - and the parents thought it was ' cute ' No common sense or understanding of dogs.
All the lockdown puppies are poorly socialised and their owners do not know what they are doing. Some of the idiots walking dogs do not have a clue.
No such thing as bad dogs, only bad owners.
My big soft basset will not be left alone with my imminent grandchild, neither of them will know what to do or what not to do.
My soft whippet cross took a chunk out of one of my sons friends when he was drunk and wouldn't leave the dog alone, she warned him, my son warned him but he took no notice (she was left with my son at the time I was out), he did admit he was in the wrong afterwards, I would have trusted her with my life, nobody elses though.
And some of the dog owners, I despair they haven't a clue.
Your whippet gets drunk?
:waiting: :waiting: :waiting:
Fleur used to love a spot of red wine!
I can assure you my whippet cross was not an alcoholic!! dear little Maxie, her only tipple was tea she loved that.
