Why do places always look cleaner and nicer in old photos? modern tacky bright plastic shop front signs don't help much.
Not that clean. I think I know what those dark lumps in the middle of the road are especially as a probable suspect is in shot too.
We burnt our packaging, what little there was, and we didn't have fast food, so no litter. Some keen gardener will be along with a bucket soon klondike!

not a million miles from where they are standing i was in town with my grandson who was about three when i got a whiff of something that Raven would certainly recognise, so i followed the smell and discovered a blacksmiths, just a couple of hundred yards from the centre of Donny, and the Smell was him [the farrier] burning the horseshoe onto the horses hoof... being a country boy i recognised the stench, but i wonder how many of you might recognise the smell...
I certainly would recognise that smell. The Smithy is about 10 miles along the road from us. We need his services from time to time.

I would. Used to have a blacksmith/farrier nearby that I used to watch as a kid. His son Reg bought the nearby chippy years ago. This was part of the Salt Road from the Cheshire salt mines over the Pennines to Hull, Grimsby and the eastern ports.. and there was a farrier/Smithy every 20 miles.
when you think about it Zoony there must have been hundreds if not thousands of them in London...
