Checked military surplus parka that has been hung out in the garden over a fortnight now. It still pongs but not nearly as bad.

Why do they make them with a nasty pong in the first place? 

Dropped my friend off today and I drove home in the dark.  There were soooooooo many Christmas trees and deccies up in houses already

I've had one before but had forgotten they pong when you get them. They are cheap and as tough as old boots so ideal for fishing. I've spent a while on google to see why and the main school of thought is poor storage. They are surplus after all. Another week or so and then another go in the washing machine I think.
