We're in Cheshire, most of the evening one of the dogs 🐶 has been snuggled up to me.  The rescue is still timid, and the cat favours my OH. I miss them when we go home.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

worrying and trying to find a roofer. The gales the other day most have dislodged some tiles - it rained heavily all day yesterday and some water has come through the kitchen ceiling, which means there must be a fair amount in the loft - can't get up to check - my balance isn't up to it.

That's worrying for you Mike, have you got an Age UK near you ? as they used to keep lists of tradesmen.
Recently when I was looking for new windows, I got a lot of recommendations for tradesmen from 'Nextdoor' a neighbourhood site which is in most areas now.
Hope you get it sorted. :upvote:

It's OK - sorted. Son of a friend is a builder, they, and Ally from next door, combined forces - problem was a cracked tile which simply couldn't cope with the amount of rain. Scott, the builder has patched the affected area and will give the entire roof an MOT to check for any other possible problems, although he can't do it straight away. An area of the kitchen ceiling has bulged and will need to be worked on, but again, not straight away.

Glad to hear it is being sorted Mike. From bits I've heard Scotland has been getting a bit of a pounding while we've had it dry and warm.

Alex

Glad to hear it's 'half sorted' Mike, you've certainly had more than your fair share of rain.

It really chucked it down. I got up around five on Saturday and looked out - teeming down and from the state of the yard and the road had clearly been doing so for some hours. Rained all day and I reckon all night - never seen so much of our yard under a couple of inches of water - and the farm across the road has a deep in their yard which probably had a couple of feet.
Finally lessened off around nine this morning - raining again at the moment, but nothing like as hard

Pleased for you Michael.. Any water leak is worrying .. My kitchen ceiling started to sag when a water pipe froze ..many years ago.. We had to replace ceiling..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Must say I am one relieved bunny, compared to this time yesterday. There must still be water on the loft insulation (all 12" of it) so I am going to leave well alone for the time being. If the bulged section does have be cut out and replaced it will be a really messy job - right over the fridge and sink

Really down at the moment, I got up as usual but just can't face that freezing cold water in the pool. Last week I couldn't even finish my lengths each time I went, as I was covered in goosebumps and shivering. The thought of facing it again today is too much. Looks like I'll have to find something else to exercise at, as I think I'm going to have to give up my membership and leave.

Alex

Arrange a petition, I'm sure you're not alone in hating cold water.
I've got hossie today, the dentist referred me about 9 months ago !

Nope ! something he spotted on the inside of my cheek also on the gum. I hate teeth, they're a 'pain' when you get them and a 'pain' when you lose them. 😁
