Not long back from Orkney and I'm shattered, almost fell asleep on the ferry home, early night for me. Spent the day going to the places the family wanted to visit, will post a few photos tomorrow.

A couple of weeks ago I had a text message from my surgery telling me to book an appointment at the hossie for blood tests , part of my MOT.   This I did on line, and got an appt for this morning at 10.30am.  I turned up early and waited patiently.....At about 10.50am I asked the woman to check if she had my name down as people arriving after me were going in quite quickly.
I think she was Polish she just said " I look" but she didn't come back.  It got to 11 so I stood in front of the door to catch the actual blood taker woman and I asked her.  She did come back and said there was no record of me on their list, the surgery hadn't sent through whatever it is they're supposed to send.
I phones the surgery from outside the hossie, 17th in the queue so I get back in my car and pop down to the surgery.  The road was up at the surgery entrance, so I had to turn round and do a two mile detour to approach surgery from the other side, I think my blood pressure may have been raised by this time..... [1110]
Spoke to the rottweiller on duty, she took my details and said the appointment was on her system, the hospital must have made a mistake.   THEN she says there is an appointment I can have in 5 minutes time  was that a coincidence I wondered ?    I went through to the waiting room and it was empty, I kid you not, there were no patients only me.  I can only suppose they were all on their phones trying to get through to make an appointment......

All's well etc, end of rant.

I'd say all is not well. I'd suggest moving but I reckon all GPs are pretty much useless these days. Virtually nothing works in this country any more.

Not a lot on today, off to the pool in a few minutes, since retiring himself comes with me, but spends most of his time in the steam room and sauna after a short fast swim.
We will both walk with Dageus if he's not working with the Clyde's or in one of the 3 fields we have left.
Just catching up on jobs around the house after lunch.
Have a nice day all.

Sympathise Mike, parking at nearly all hospitals is a nightmare now!  Hope all is well.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

it's just an imaging appointment to check against diabetic retinopathy -have one every six months  but usually not at PRI. If I don't post for the next week, I'm probably still searching for a space!

I'm lucky in that I can bus into town and walk to my local hospital. I have walked from home when an appointment was too early for the bus pass. Had that one been on a rainy day I may have taken a taxi instead as it's half a mile from town and just over a mile from home. Hospital parking here is expensive and nigh on impossible.

I've another coming next week. I may walk from home if it's a nice day as it's about the same time as the bus including waits.

Mike I always used to park round at the old hospital carpark it's over a bit but easier.

Michael Rolls

yes, I have used that in the past as well. Once I had an appointment in the old hospital but no spaces so I had to park up the hill. My bad at the time and it took nearly 20 minutes to walk down the hill - and more than 20 uphill on the way back, including holding on to people's fences to rest the back for a few minutes. What is annoying is that these appointments are usually at Blairgowrie Cottage Hospital or even the health centre

Can you not ask for them to be shifted to there if it's easier for you? I had to come down to Ninewells for my checkup on my messed up leg. If i'd fallen up here I'd have been taken to Inverness, as it was I fell in Perth so landed in Ninewells when IMO it should have been PRI, I was not amused as I live 5 minutes away from PRI. :waiting:

Next time if they say PRI I will ask to another location. TBH, until I looked in today's diary I had totally forgotten this appointment - comes round every six months - six months ago my legs were much better than they are now, and despite regular 'strengthening' exercises they don't want to walk very far. A round trip of half a mile is currently about as much as I can manage
