That joy is still in the future for me. Probably not far in the future though.

8 am.. I did an early shop before it gets too hot.. There were quite a few people heading for the park.. Bought a large chicken.. no bar code.. The woman on the checkout asked me if I would pay 3 pounds for it.. result..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I've just crawled around the shops .... dumped some lettuce and egg mayo in the fridge and now I'm lying in a puddle on the floor and only just able to reach up to touch my keyboard.

It's too hot for me. I've wilted. My jeans have stuck to me.

I crawled around today too !  I would have stayed at home but I take an old friend shopping on a Saturday, as she doesn't drive.  It was too hot to do anything but sit under a brolly in the garden.

I have been exhausted most of the day. Dageus is struggling with the heat as well he's so restless and won't eat, he's lying out the back sleeping on one of the lawns just now and it's almost dark.
I would love to leave the back door open for him all night as I know he's going to keep me awake, but I don't dare, and I don't fancy dozing in the chair all night so he can wander in n out as he pleases.

Jeans..!!!  Blimey .. They are hot in this weather.. A frock for me.. With some of the top buttons undone, so as to look all sexy..  :yahoo: :yahoo:

Damn, all but I'm not complaining. I'm alive and sitting...

Well I've reached a decision about the external sounder for the new alarm system.

The problem about where the existing one is that it's at the apex of the wall /roof & it's above the lounge bay window so the ladder has to be far enough out to clear the top of the bay.

This means that the foot of the ladder has to be further away from the wall than it should be. I'll risk it to nip up & remove the existing sounder as it'll only take a couple of minutes with the use of a screwdriver & I can keep one hand on the ladder, but to fit the new sounder would take 10 minutes & involve using a heavy hammer drill with both my hands off the ladder as I'd need to hold the sounder in place at the same time.

Therefore I will mount the new sounder level with the top right of the bedroom window & to the side of the lounge bay window.

It still needs me to be on the ladder but the height is a lot less & the ladder bounce won't happen as the angle will be closer to the wall.

I did try to post a photo of the front of the house but I can't get it small enough.

I'm guessing the bay makes hiring a scaffolding tower futile.

In the past I've used a stepladder on top of a bay but that's out at my age. It should probably have been out when I was younger too.

Of course there are other possibilities

:upvote:

I have actually used a hi-loader on a building site, but I could reach the job from the bucket & I didn't need the additional ladder.

Blimey that looks very dangerous!!!!

Awaiting a chap to come and give me a price for a decorating job.

Those JCB buckets are actually very stable. I think that looks iffy but with two blokes one holding the ladder it's no worse than being on the ground and probably safer.  The JCB might bugger up the flower beds a bit though.

My decking needs staining.. I really want to do it but I can't be arsed..
I have the paint.. brushes and kneeling pad all ready ... But I keep making up excuses not to ..
Did a gas/electric meter reading though.. Might clean the windows instead.. I was going to do them last week but it was too hot.. I quite enjoy cleaning windows.. Dopey, that I am..

Today's the day of the ladder.

I took my neighbour, who'd broken her wrist, to hospital yesterday & there was a young man who'd fallen off a ladder & broken both his wrists.

Is this an omen?

Not really, all it shows is you have to know how to use a ladder safely.

I think mine's pretty safe

So long as I don't move it.
