I've just phoned my neighbour and she is the same.  I didn't know she was ill yesterday but went over with a bunch of flowers for her.  Her husband opened the door a few inches and told me I couldn't come in!

The road was icy and she phoned to check I was ok and said they were not allowing anyone in to catch the bug.  She has asked another neighbour to leave a bottle of brandy on the doorstep.

Oh Dear, I suppose the bug will spread as it's so near Christmas and every one's rushing about in crowded places. Just what we need.....Not. 

We get these bugs doing the rounds .. winter and summer..
It is the luck of the draw whether or not you pick anything up..

If Mac was given antibiotics then at least it's not likely to be another gift from Chairman Xi. Apart from covid I don't recall the last time I picked up a bug. Unfortunately that might not mean I haven't had one of course... 

The sun is out.. The ice is scary underfoot.. Big thaw tomorrow.. They say..
I still haven't got my onion.. But I aet the chicken stew.. It didn't taste right.. Something was missing.. !!

How do you make your chicken stew Scrumps ?  I make a cracking beef stew, not as good as my Mum's of course, but never had a lot of luck with Chicken stew, unless I use a  tin of Campbells soup in it.

You can buy frozen chopped onion for an emergency, I've got a bag of diced onions and sliced mushroom - just in case

Thankfully I don't seem to get anything too bad, which is just as well living alone with the four furry ones to look after which would mean not being able to have a lie in.

My chicken stew was the carcass from my roast chicken.. I have plenty of meat on it.. I usually bin it.. !!
I put it in a big saucepan.. and boil it up.. The meat falls off the bone.. I then add fresh veg and a stew pot..  I also make dumplings to add .. 
 I like suet dumplings..

My mum was a cook.. She used to have a stew pot.. All leftovers were put in the stew pot..

Finally got into my car again this morning, the doors were all frozen shut. Yesterday you couldn't see across the yard for heavy snow and I said "NOPE" I didn't even get dressed, stayed in my cozies.
Got the drivers door open this morning and drove over the yard to the sunny bit with my head sticking out the door as I couldn't see out the windows. Sun unfroze it and I got a jar of vaseline in the chemist and smeared it all over the doors rubbers, hope to hell it helps to stop them freezing shut.....We shall see.
Had a nice but slippy walk with Dageus (thank god for ice grips) who had so much energy I could have sloshed him.   He went mad tearing around and kept charging me, scared stiff the bugger was going to have me down BUT, he didn't. After lunch it's the fire, audio book and a bit more knitting.
