I have my heating ON.. Just for a couple of hours..
I shall roast a chicken later.. That will warm the house up.. and the aroma will be delicious..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Sounds like a plan :upvote: Wild as hell here, no rain but the winds crazy. No cliff walks or beach walk today. Might head up river. Nothing planned just a quiet day.

I've had my heating on for some time now but set low and with a lot of rads fully off. House has been colder than I'd like and the bill even in the relatively mild weather so far a lot higher. Higher than I'm paying in fact but there is currently a government top up and I started out with a sizeable positive balance.

HMG would like everybody to think this is down to the Russian invasion of Ukraine but it is, imo at least, caused by a failure in government energy policy plus the reckless dash towards net zero.

New nuclear power stations were vetoed by the LibDems

They'd be online now had they been built back then and we wouldn't be facing power cuts this winter.

I'm being lazy. It's not often I'm still in my dressing gown after 8am, but I've really gone for it today. Off for a shower in a mo.

I'm not expecting any visitors and I don't have anything to go out for, so here I am still in my DG.  The heating was on for two hours earlier, the house is now cold again but I'm well wrapped up !
I bought a cooked chicken in Costco yesterday, so that's my dinner sorted...... + roasties and sprouts

When I was growing up I remember huge round container things, with ladders up the sides, I think they were used for storing gas. They all vanished a good while back, Pity, We could be doing with them now.

Yes I remember those, another victim of green energy  ?  They would certainly have come in handy now - same as the nuclear plants the Lib Dems refused to back.

Raven

We have a nuclear plant a few miles along the road from us. When it was built Thurso expanded in a hurry as the workers needed to be housed. The town was nicknamed The Nuclear Town. Dounreay sits above a lovely beach named Sandside, I never go there as there's notices about nuclear waste there.

I've been on top of a holder, a bit scary, pretty high. I worked for BG for 17+ years.

There were a couple not far from me that went a long time back.

I thought they were storage but Wikipedia says they were pressure controllers. I can only guess that they were replaced with some smaller gizmo that didn't require a football pitch worth of space in a prime location. Not sure how prime the location here was though as there have been several abandoned developments on the space one of them took up with another that only exists on posters so far.

They got fed up with the tagging and the whole extent of the fencing is now covered with more professional looking graffiti - there was a team of about a dozen doing it over a weekend a couple of months back.

We had some in the next town.. The Germans tried to target them in the last war.. but missed.. Just imagine had they been hit.. !!

I must get the vacuum cleaner out today.. and use it..
Cold chicken for lunch...

I'm looking for a tablet on line today, so much information, so much choice, decisions decisions.  I end up thinking 'sod it'

Watch the pricing as this is supposed to be Black Friday week. I'd also say avoid unknown brands. There will be a lot of supposed bargains that are for obsolete models so check online reviews which should also say when they first came to market.

Alex, we bought a chromebook from George Henry Lee.  When it was just over a year old it stopped working.  I phoned the shop and they asked if I could take it in to Liverpool but I couldn't as I was CEV.
They sent a van out for it and told me not to bother packing it up.   The driver had a case to put it in.

They fixed it and brought it back to me all under the guarantee.  Now that's service!  Their electrical items seem to have a two year guarantee.
