Scrumpy

So very sad..  It is a natural instinct to help our pets when they are struggling.. We disregard the dangers..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

There's a big notice on Dunnet Beach here telling you not to go in after your dog if it gets in trouble, there's a bad rip tide just a wee bit out. But I know only too well I would go in after Dageus I Couldn't watch him struggle and drown. I let him paddle only, no swimming for him, I know where it's ok to let him swim but he seldom does these days. Think all my yelling at him to "come back here" has paid off.

Filthy day here, got soaked at the pool, soaked when out with Dagues, and still soaked when I went shopping.  :boo:
Just out of a hot shower and back into jammies, I'm going nowhere. My wool arrived from Ebay earlier and now I'm going to knit a warm cozy house cardigan. Don't have a pattern for this but I'll make one up from a couple similar to the photo, just to get a stitch guide. Do it a lot as I used to use one pattern I loved and made up my own type of stitches to use.

How clever you are Raven.. I made a coat way back.. It was knitted square patches sewn together.. I loved it.. So trendy back then..

That's one good thing my mother taught me, she was a fantastic knitter, she showed me so much. I have a book of graph paper that I use to make picture patterns, well I used to, last one I did was 20 years ago of an Old English Sheepdog. There's a lot of new stitches these days in aran patterns but I have my favourites that I like to mix n match.
Only going to do this one to just past the hips, not as long as in the photo, same moss green though as it's a lovely colour.

I make things for dementia patients in our local hospital.  They have safe 'twiddles' to keep their fingers busy.

People with dementia tend to pull out their cannula, which is distressing for everyone and expensive for the NHS so I make cannula sleeves to help prevent this.  The nurses are always pleased to see them.

The cardigan looks warm  :upvote:   I bought a coatigan once, but it was flapping around my ankles. They don't seem to cater for short arxes.

Off in a tick to get my hearing aids. Next town 8:00am. Shock to the system.

I SAID OFF TO GET HEARING AIDS

GrannyMac

Eh?

Seriously, I'd be lost without mine, although I don't wear them all the time.  I know I should. Good luck.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I'm off out for lunch today with 3 friends, we grew up in the same street and have known each other since we were 5 or 6 years old. We lost touch for many, many years as people do, but it's good that we can all meet up again and talk about the 'old days'

World's a noisy old place ain't it?

They will take a bit of getting used to but will hopefully improve my ability to properly hear films and plays which can be a stuggle at times.

One thing was annoying. The doctors booked me into a hospital in the to next town as the local one had a long wait. I was assuming I could just switch to my home hospital once kitted up but no - apparently they use different aids. Not sure what happens once I give up driving.

No ear moulds with these. Push in cones. They were irritating at first but I'm getting used to them. They want me to rebook for a checkup and service in 3 or 4 months. I can just call in for batteries but it will be cheaper to just buy some if the ones I was given don't last.

GrannyMac

Perhaps there are local surgeries where you can get batteries.  I was given a list of options, I now get mine from a local GP practice if I don't want to go to the hospital.

They aren't expensive anyway so I don't mind getting them myself. The audiologist said a battery should last about a week. Does that sound likely?

One thing I've noticed is something randomly squeaking which I've never heard before. I think it might be the lantern that hangs over the door as it is quite windy. I'll have to go out and check. I just finished what I was watching on TV and it's annoying as well as mysterious.
=======
When I went out about an hour back to look there were a couple of fire engines up the road so I just came back in. They are still there so it could be something they are doing.   Beyond the area my CCTV covers so I've no idea what is going on and don't want to go out gawping despite my nosiness.

Not long back from a walk through the hills with the hairy one, started out early as it was such a beautiful morning for it. I love this type of autumn day. Sadly by the time I returned home it had clouded over and the bloody wind was on the rise once again. Glad we got to do it though, I love the walk to Badbea clearance village, it's such a sad, wild, lonely place.
