Quote from: morty on October 10, 2022, 11:00:20 AMYou know ... klondike's would have been a great name for this place. Makes me think of the gold rush.
Klondike is a demonstartion of my ignorance. I was born in 1949 and recalled the old song lyric that went...

"In a cavern, in a canyon,
Excavating for a mine,
Dwelt a miner, a forty-niner,
And his daughter Clementine."

Unfortunately it was the California gold rush in 1849 and not the Klondike goldrush which came about 50 years later.

Forgot to mention that I was tested as having hearing loss in both ears and will be getting two NHS aids in about a month. I reckon that must be a few grand saving over commercial ones.

Fortunately the next appointment is at 8:00am which I'm hoping means I won't be repeating the umpteen times round the car park looking for a space. The spaces were tiny too and having a sun roof would aid exit and entry as opening the door was nigh on impossible. I hope I can get in the car when I return to it.

Thats good news k. I really hope they make a big difference. They really help me with TV, theatre, and in company. I'm ok without them one to one, and they can make things too noisy outdoors, especially on really windy days!

Money saving tip: If you ever travel by train, once you have the 'brown book' (or equivalent) that is issued with your aids, you can buy a disabled rail card, gives you and a.n.other 1/3 off.

The technician who did the test suggested wearing them most of the time so the brain can get used to processing the extra data again. I was considering only bothering with them some of the time. Maybe start out most of the time and cut back later.

Knowing about the rail card is handy although I'm not sure I trust the railways - I got dumped out at random locations far too often when I used them for commuting and gave up on using them then.

GrannyMac

I should use them more too,  a friend who has similar loss only takes hers out at bedtime.  You'll find a balance that suits you.  I quite like the inability to hear noise sometimes.

I've made the cost of my railcard back on what we saved going to Scotland recently.  Again its just handy to know about.

I fear the happy ending may just be feeling happy because it ended in this case....

Grandaughter is on the bus at the moment, on her way up here for a while, so it's gut the spare room and clean for me.

Out fishing today. It looks a bit grim out there at the moment unfortunately.

Morning, OMG What a shock earlier, I had to defrost the blooming car before I could go for my swim.  Hope this isn't s sign of a bad winter to come.
Just away to the beach with Dagues then it's washing and a general tidy up. Going to get my granddaughter up on a Clyde's back this afternoon, that will be fun. Or not, as the case may be.

GrannyMac

Beautiful day here, nippy but bright. We've planned to do some more pruning today, a very prickly holly bush.  Ouch!

Have fun with your granddaughter Raven, she'll love the horses!
