Yes, but if we paid privately for a doctor we'd see one quickly.   :lipsrsealed:

Ours has two options. Sit on the phone an age or fill in an online questionaire available from 8:00am to midday or when that day's appointments run out.

With the questionaire (if it hasn't been withdrawn because of staff shortages) you either get a phone call back (I got one telling me the number of the hospital eye clinic when my dry eye got so bad during the heatwave I was almost constantly using eye drops) or as in the case of when I requested a referral for an NHS hearing test totally ignored. I've just repeated that request referring to the earlier one and asking for at least a confirmation that it had been done or to do it if not. They are damned useless. I'm considering changing GPs but not sure that they aren't all useless but in different ways.

The latest annoyance is they mark prescription items as needing review so you can't order them. Last month I used the special request option to ask that they review and issue them all. This month the BP tablets are still showing as needing review so I've done the same again. I know what they actually want is for me to get a blood test. They used to contact you to book one  but so far they haven't. Last time I turned up for one they had no glass vials and said they would rebook me.  They didn't.  Beyond useless.

I have a Review tomorrow at the surgery.. I'm not going to call it ' doctors' anymore because it is a make believe word.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I actually got a call back. Asked a couple of questions by the receptionist "both ears" and "background noise". They had no record of the earlier one so I suspect the locum they got in didn't know how to do referrals and binned it. Supposed to be getting a confirmation of what happens next. They'll probably tell me that Tuesday happens next. Or maybe the sun is going to set later. Or most likely won't call.

I'm fortunate that our surgery has a very helpful nurse/sister who deals with diabetics and I am invited to attend about once every six months.
Related to this, I occasionally receive a telephone call from a doctor (I think that most of the ones remaining are now part time and it's usually a different name each time!) if the nurse has suggested it.
Attempting to make an appointment with a doctor, however, is almost impossible.  The usual response by the receptionist is for someone (not necessarily a doctor) will telephone on a specific date hence, but the 'old-fashioned' facility to simply walk in and expect to see a doctor in person (as was possible when I was much younger) is now not going to happen.
If an emergency, the stock response is to go to A&E (and prepare for a 10 hour wait)!

They will be very busy.. They will blame the death of our Queen.. Saying that people are fainting.. and coming over all unnecessary...

I must indulge in some self flagellation for unjustly suggesting there would be no callback. There was a call to say I had been referred. I expect it will be quite a wait but I see no reason to endure a severe wallet massaging from buying hearing aids from Boots or similar.

I've been to my favourite aqua aerobics class, only to find the instructor is leaving! Cost of living is driving her to more hours in a better paid role.  :boo:

That's a shame GM, I remember when it happened here. Some of the class were really upset and never took to her replacement.

Morning Everyone, Can't sleep so here I am at the desk. Not a lot on for later as my car has to go for it's service, just be faffing about close to home while I'm grounded.

Morning all.  Managed to cook and eat a toasted sausage sandwich in the same time as it took to read an old thread

My achalasia naturally meant the most of it was soon regurgitated.

Have got an 80th birthday lunch to go to in Manchester centre, which will be fun to get to as I'll need to drive and find somewhere to park.  My ailment means I won't actually eat anything much, as there's no point trying and this wasting an expensive main course!

From there, I have to drive my elderley MiL home and thrn onto out to Altrincham to give a tuition.

That'll do me for the day.

If you're at a loose end, just get on with some cleaning.
That's what I tell Marge anyway.
