Hello everyone - Shivery cold here today - but is dry - so far!  That nice Mr Sainsbury is delivering a van load of goodies anytime now.  Sorting them out will warm me up!  Making tomato and basil soup for lunch, scampi and chips for dinner.  Not sure what will happen in between - it's a bit of a serendipity day.

Hello everyone.  Very cold and dull here - but it is dry, so far.  Meeting up with a friend for shopping - hers, mine was delivered yestermorn - then we are going to a Chinese restaurant for lunch.  Should be a fun day as we always seem to find something to laugh about.  Mad as hatters - the pair of us.

Bright and sunny here - but very cold.    Yestermorn Mr Sainsbury delivered lots of lovely things for me to play with - going to make some of my favourite soup - leek!    Found a recipe for coleslaw using greek yoghurt and mustard in place of mayonnaise, so will try that.  Also one of my neighbours was telling me she had lunch at farm shop a few days ago and had Beef Crumble - not heard of that before but it sounded interesting, so I asked Mr Google for the recipe.  Am off to the butchers now to buy some beef mince and will try it for tonight's dinner.

Raining in Manchester, unusually🙄😉

Waiting for gas man to come and repair boiler.  Which will mean that he'll inexorably say it needs a part, which will lead to the service contract company subcontracting out to another company to sort this out and unlikely it'll be fixed until next week🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. 

On the plus side, while the boiler is turned off, we'll save a bit of cash to mitigate the call out fee.

Have ordered some timber from a company which, by fluke, employs an ex pupil of mine who sorted out a good deal for me.  Due to arrive tomorrow.

Not much else planned other than an online lesson later.

I'm still laughing about last night. I decided to take my latest flashlights over the fields to test them out & I passed someone who gave me a very odd look as I was holding a nearly 2ft long Maglite by the head of the torch so all he could see was what looked like a cosh.

I stopped & said to him "Yes, it'll hurt but this way round it's a torch, but not this way round."

Anyway on testing it I was pleased with the way it performed & unlike the old Maglites this new one has the ability to be dimmed & has a strobe facility.

The other flashlight, which is dual LED floodlight / LEP spotlight, was impressive to say the least as on full floodlight lumens mode it illuminated a large area of the field for 200 metres.

I gave the LEP spotlight mode a very quick test on full power & it illuminated a treeline that was at least a kilometre away.

The flashlight I'd really like is an Imalent MS32 but the cost of it needs a lot of thought.

I have an easier solution. I go out in the daytime. My son likes powerful flashlights too. Something I've never understood spending much on.

Expensive aren't they !

Have done my chores (food ready for tea, booked boiler repair for Monday, been shopping and given a tuition). Mrs Dex was toying with visiting a friend in Northumberland in a few weeks, so I did an initial search only to discover that Manchester seems not to be in England anymore.

I'd never given it a consideration but I purchased the property here in auction, from the American version of 'The Official Solicitor' as the previous owner died suddenly and was 'intestate' (no will). It's truly incredible, I reckon I could shoot a MIG 32 down with its beam! Even in the early twilight it certainly disturbed a large flock of Geese on the lake, I reckon a mile out, They fled with more verbose honking than an aroused George Galloway!

Dare I say 'boys and their toys!'   We bought a new shed last summer, cleared out the old one, bought new shelving, and it's a big improvement, looks much smarter. But OH has hardly thrown anything away, so when I wanted some gardening tools last week, I had to almost fight my way through the boxes, tins and various 'handy' items.  🙄

My shed was pushed over the other week, I'm now undecided whether to get another one or not.
