Title: Wally of the Week
Post by: Alex on May 13, 2023, 07:36:35 PM
I was going to insert an ' a' but thought better of it.  On a couple of radio stations they have a plonker of the week, shall we do the same  ?   It can be anyone, someone we all know obviously, I mean Scrumpy cannot nominate Sharon from her Co-op

My nomination for this Saturday is The Archbishop of Canterbury, bless his cotton socks....

Sorry I meant Tracy 😀

Presumably on his performance in the Lords.

I didn't watch the Coronation but something I went to on the Sunday between acts was showing bits from it and it looked to me like the silly sod thought the crown had to be screwed onto Charlie boys head. If that had been Henry the VIII I reckon he'd have been more careful.

I got annoyed at him earlier in the week but for a different reason. When Charles was the Prince of Wales he was always in bother for daring to have you an opinion on things going on in Westminster, he was told to butt out often.  :nooo:
This guy was going on loudly about the plans to remove the illegals and I was waiting for the backlash Charles would have got if he had said half of what this guy did.
IF, Charles has to keep out and concentrate only on Royal matters then this guy should be told to keep his nose out and his mouth away from the media, concentrate on religion only. In other words mind his own blasted business.

An excellent idea for an ongoing thread, and an excellent choice for the initial subject.

Personally, I'd have used the phrase 'wally of the week', particularly for this wally.  That word suggests even more of an incompetent and wishy-washy person.

Plonker of the week would be Welby, rsoul of the week would be Piers and Jeremy Hunt of the week would be the Donald.

Twit does not do them justice.

I think that this picture says it all, especially as the unusually large mitre looks as if he's attempting to outdo Charlie-boy's crown.
I remember seeing many bishops' mitres which were half the size of that monstrosity.  Simple one-upmanship by the supposed head of the CofE, before it collapses due to the numbers leaving the club which, incidentally, are no doubt encouraged by his politically 'inclusive' behaviour.

Edit:  I did copy and past the picture of the ABofC included earlier in the discussion but, for some reason, it disappeared.

Thanks for that.  However, I copied the picture to my desktop, then dragged and dropped it on to the page on which I was writing my response.  Obviously, that was too easy!

Incidentally, wasn't this thread entitled 'Twit of the Week' originally?  Or is it my failing memory?

Well as it didn't appear it may have been easy but was obviously not the right way to get a picture into your post.

There are a number of possible ways. Sometimes just doing a copy and paste from a different page directly in works but other times it doesn't. Whether it works or not depends on how the other page was coded. Following the postimage monkey see monkey do script always works if followed correctly and avoids any frustration at finding the universe doesn't perform as hoped or expected.

Threads go off topic all the time here. There is no moderator upsetting people all the time by moaning at them for going off topic. Sometimes they do get pulled back onto the original subject but others they carry on in some new way and still others they just peter out. A minor change like the wording of the title wouldn't normally get a mention.

YES.. It is Tracey at the Co-op.
I needed some green olives.. I could just about see them on the top shelf in the cooler cabinet.. I asked Tracey to reach up and get one for me..
She had to CLIMB up to retrieve one.. Leaving the last two cartons at the back of  the top shelf in the chiller cabinet. Wally..

Title: Re: Wally of the Week
Post by: GrannyMac on May 25, 2023, 06:51:58 AM
No other government has had a Covid pandemic to cope with.  Not sure any would have got it all right. The increased cost of living has been made much worse by global fuel costs. And coming out of Brexit stopped free movement from Europe has reduced immigration, but only via that route.

My OH is keen to see Reform do well in the next general election. We'll both probably vote for them, but I'd put money on our current Labour MP getting elected again. The last boundary change that affected our constituency was a gift for Labour.

other than the war, the problems facing this government have been just about unparalleled, but that won't save them. Too many thinks are going wrong, and the thought of what the alternative might be is unlikely to weigh very heavily with many voters
Title: Re: Wally of the Week

The evidence of how poorly the Conservatives have performed on every front leads me to believe that Labour will have to work hard to outpace them in the uselessness stakes. At least they have the civil service and unions on their side.

Fresh on from putting Northern Ireland effectively in the single market Sunak is apparently now in the process of signing us up to participate in the EU Army project. We no longer have a government even paying lip service to Brexit as will be clear from the new immigration figures being announced today.

Harry... ( again)... Writing in his book Spare that he had taken drugs..
Now the American court is asking questions .. About Visas and drugs..
Can you imagine him being deported !! :busted:

Wally of the Week..

Him again.. Not showing up in the High Court yesterday.. The judge raised his eyebrows..
:nooo:
Arrogance at its worst..

Well he's in court now, trying (as a witness) trying to prove that the Mirror (I think it is) has obtained and published details about him illegally.

I'm afraid it will take several weeks, as these things inevitably do, but I hope that at the end of it Harold will have egg on his face and, even better, having to pay the costs of the trial.

Well I hope he doesn't, those newspaper hounds are nasty pieces of work who don't give a hoot how they get their stories, destroying people's lives in the process they need stopped.

I disagree.  He gets exactly what he deserves.  He had done all he can to cause trouble for his own family and, in so doing, has turned the majority of people in this country against him.
The press do what they have always done and, were it not for Harold's stupidity, they wouldn't have any ammunition to use against him.

It takes two to argue and fall out not just one. His brother is just as capable of being a nasty scunner as Harry is. That scowl often on his face tells me everything I need to to know about Mr not so squeaky clean.

What has William done wrongly?
Other than pushing Harold into the dog bowl, of course.
How is William a 'nasty scunner'?
Even if he scowls a bit!

Many ( celebrities) and ( Royals) have been known to play the media and use them to their advantage..
Harry and Meghan would hate to be ignored.. as would Diana back in the day..
They can't have it all their own way.. and just have sweet smiley pictures of themselves.. Readers would soon get bored...

Yes I know and your quite correct, but I personally feel the media go much to far these days. They won't leave you alone, take photos they have no right to take, hack into emails texts voice mails ect. Print lies and destroy lives. IMO it needs to stop.

Getting celebs voicemails has been stopped I think. It wasn't really hacking it was stupidity on the part of the celebs. They just left voicemail passwords as provider defaults. Anybody with their phone number could just collect voice mails.

I doubt that journalists are smart enought to do any proper hacking and imagine most of the stories come from the celebs "friends". If they didn't get their pics in the paper they would likely cry. I doubt many of the "wardrobe malfunctions" are accidental either.

Those that want fame on only their own terms will be disappointed. It's the public to blame too. If they didn't show huge interest in all the crap it wouldn't get published.

I had to look him up, reading that he has breached his bail condition 13 times and has already received £18,000 compo for false imprisonment !!!! AND he should have been deported to Slovakia.  I wouldn't call him a 'wally' he's a violent thug.

T.W.A.T's or Tourists With Attempted Tans, has come early this year  with the record breaking early heatwave.
Pictured here on a beach a tourist soaking up the rays in a lovely shade of lobster pink.
T.W.A.T's season is normally July to August here but the early May-June heatwave has seen scores of flamingo visitors to the various beaches in the county.

Good heavens!
Yes, it's nice to sit in the sun, as long as it isn't too strong, but intentionally damaging your skin like that is stupid.  I'm sure that this gentleman will pay for that when the sun goes down.

Hmmm. That really doesn't look the sort of terrain that a motorhome should be going. The contents were liable to fall if you hit a speed bump too fast in the ones I had.
