Title: Cheeky monkey..
Post by: Scrumpy on June 10, 2022, 03:47:51 PM
I was sitting in my bedroom today having a face pack and reading some rubbish in the press when I spotted movement out of the corner of my eye...
A cheeky cat had wandered in and was giving me the once over..
Very quietly.. for fear of cracking the face pack.. I stood up and showed him the way out..
He didn't rush.. He just strolled down the stairs and out into the garden..

We have a very timid big wimp of a cat.  I went into the kitchen recently and was surprised that he didn't come to me but was keeping very still.  I walked round the corner to find a neighbour's cat curled up in our cat's bed (Prime cardboard box).

I picked our cat up and shouted Paul who came and chased the other cat.  Several neighbours have found this cat in their own beds.  Cheeky monkey.

I've got a very glamorous Chinchilla (from next door) who enjoys the odd visit. The dogs don't trouble her now and indeed Doris has made a new friend. She very cleverly enters by Boris's window and then sits up on the shelves, cleaning and taking in the rays. Rather keen on Chicken too. I'm very fond of cats as my late wife bred Birmans and Havanas.

I have a soft spot for cats and I am sure they can sense it..
I never raise my voice..

Cassandra.. You now have a Chinchilla cat visit.. !!
How wonderful.. Has it met Boris. ?
Imagine them both paying a visit at the same time.. !!

No their paths haven't crossed yet 'Simble' comes after Boris has gone to bed, but she sure can smell him on the Tap! My late wife had a good friend in Lincolnshire who bred 'Maine Coons'. They were huge, afraid of nothing (with good cause) and could be right so and so's. "Tiger, Tiger burning bright" really fits them, huge eyes of fire, magnificent creatures. My favourite was a Blue Havana, who was killed on the road and it seriously cracked me up, to this day even. She was my cat you see and never left my side, when I came home. I'd have one tomorrow, but they're such independent souls I'd fear for their safety here. That said 'Simble's now 5 and never had a problem, there's no traffic here at least. She was very fond of the previous owner of my home apparently and appears to be getting her pads under the table again!

We're off tomorrow (Coop and I), taking off 5am (wonderful time to fly here in a small plane) to pick up my 2 Cricketing pals and fly them back through the ravines.

I'm a cat person too, this is my cat George who I loved dearly, he got sick and had to be PTS at the age of 16.

Tomorrow I have some direction arrows  to paint.. I am very excited about finishing project and then...
Cassandra tells us that 'Tomorrow we take off in a small plane to pick up some friends and fly them back through the ravines'
What a contrast to me painting arrows..

Love your cat Alex..

My cat Polly was just a regular old tabby..
She was gentle and laid back..
When a bird flew into the living room and perched on a chair , wondering where the hell it was, Polly who was sleeping nearby opened one eye but couldn't be bothered to move.. She lived until she was 16..

George once terrified next door neighbour's visiting dog, he ran up the fence and chased the dog into their house.  He was such a character, but very affectionate too.

We only had one cat, Meg, a big black and white moggy. She wasn't affectionate, but she let us live with her! She was almost 19 when she had to be PTS. Our daughter got her as a kitten, but went to work abroad after a few years, so she came to live with us.

Cat people here.

We're at that stressfull time keeping our old kitty indoors for a couple of weeks in our new home before we let her out to claim her new territory. She's not happy about it! Only 2 more days!

Lucy loved getting intolucy in box.jpg  small spaces, especially cardboard boxes. On one occasion, as she jumped in, the box flipped upside down, so we were treated to the sight of a cardboard box 'walking' across the floor!

yes, she was - and despite her small size, she ruled the roost! Sadly, long gone - that photo is from a bit over 50 years ago

Thank you all,

Wonderful trip! Up with the lark, most things dripping in red shades as the sun rose over our wings. Passed Detroit and then across Lake Eyrie (about 15 mins) its only small you see! Then on to the best bit, the Northern tip of the Appalachians over Pennsylvania. Amazing colour and light spectrums, meanwhile mountain goats stop chomping to look up (or across) at you. Over Allentown, then slowing for a bit before getting landing permission. Handed over our mail and special parcels and took on board our return medical consignment and mail. As if by magic my two old pals arrived by coach, they'd had a good flight over the pond sleeping most of the way and then had the pleasure of the return trip in a much smaller conveyance. They were every bit as stunned as I had been the first (and every) time, as we flew inside the valleys with the sun spiking through the clouds, attracting withering stares from passing Eagles.

Finally landing safely and everyone toasting our Pilot for a faultless performance. Then to home, ecstatic greetings from the dogs of course. Doris has particularly taken to one of my friends and he took her out for an early evening stroll down to the Lakeside. Tillie arrived with one of her daughters and prepared a super meal. Then we all went down to the 'local' for refreshment, where my sporting 'stars' were greeted with great warmth and never had to look far for a drink!

One lady remarked, 'Judge' I could listen to you three talking all night, We already had one resident Englishman, but now we got three!

A day I'll never forget ...

Mind you we all rose very late on today and now they're both asleep in front of the TV, good job I'm recording the cricket!

One of them is almost a perfect double for the late Rutger Hauer (Blade-runner) and indeed one lady in the bar last night asked him for his autograph and then looked crestfallen upon discovering he was merely a limey 'ball game player'. I pointed out her hero had passed on in 2019. "Oh my God" she wailed in disbelief!

Cassandra - what a super, and well deserved, day! Fascinated that you overflew Allentown - Lita Roza's 'They've locked up my lover in Allentown jail' promptly popped into mind, a song I haven't hear in many a long year.
Win the toss, out the opposition in and drop catches - oh dear!
