I checked my Shell account this morning, first £66 payment has been applied. Everyone with an electric meter should get it.  Not often we get a wee bit extra.

Thanks, I'll check mine later.

I'm going to ask to have my SMETS 1 meters changed to SMETS 2 meters as the IHD has more functions to monitor & control energy usage.

Just tried to log in & there's a 13 minute wait to be able to access the site.

I've got into my account & the £66 is there, taking my credit up to £400.15p  :yahoo:

Not sure what mine are doing. There is nothing to say any discount has been banked that I can see but they have reduced the DD by £67. It just shows as £446 in credit but it was that already on 22 Sept.

Considering this company gets good customer service reports according to the MSE tool I used in the days when you could swap provider I'd hate to see what information a poorly rated one provides. There is a tool that recommends I pay £162 which clearly makes no allowance for the government discount as the actual price increase isn't huge now thanks to the revised cap.

I assume after my DD gets paid on 12th I will see that plus the £66 going in.

I though all we who normally get nowt for free would be excited about it.  Perhaps payments are being staggered? I wonder how I'll contain myself when our combined £500 hits the bank account!

As discussed elsewhere on this forum it's £66 - £67 a month. For quarterly bills that should average out at £400 for the winter period.

well, just had a letter from SSE/OVO gleefully informing me that the monthly bill for the house goes up from £573 pm to £643 on 22/10/22- not clear if that is before or after the rebate. Letter still to come re the outhouses - currently £141 a month, doubtless to increase - so close on £10,000 a year. Needless to say, the days when I kept the whole house nice and warm at 21-22C are gone - as are most of my donations to charity.

You could do with somewhere smaller Mike, that's an arm and a leg you're paying out there.

Michael.. That's a lot of money..

One has to consider what part of the country a person lives.. Climate so different between North and South.. Even on our small island.

I've been considering cancelling my charity Direct Debits but I haven't done so yet, I only make small payments which add up to about £60 per month so I'll probably just let them run.

Why, is he ill? Disabled?

If he's unemployed he'll be a recipient of £650 which thee and me don't get.

You're absolutely right. A huge amount!

I still miss my old marital home, it was a big old 4 bed place, a bugger to heat back when we lived there, but now I simply wouldn't be able to afford to.

Michael Rolls

I'm lucky enough to be able to afford these obscene costs - I know many folk will be struggling. This was our home. We were happy here and I still have the memories. Hopefully, the only way that I will leave it is in a box.
I can economise a bit on electricity - I'm a cold soul, but an extra layer of clothing and not heating the whole house to 22C or so is sensible under the current circumstances.

Mike, my daughter has just bought my OH a hoodie blanket. Fleece lined, its remarkably cosy.  The grandchildren have had these for a while, now the adults have cottoned on. Amazon have them at all prices.

Many thanks for the thought - I have something similar - Veronica's brother Paul bought it for her - when her disability (it was cyclical) was bad, she spent a lot of time sitting down and even with the house warm, she still felt cold but preferred to use the blanket rather than have the heating whacked up. As her cousin used to say - 'she took after her mum - they both hated spending money'
