Queen Elizabeth II has died. Still stoically performing some duties right to the last, she will be missed by many.
RIP
Whatever your opinion of the Royal family, she was a remarkable lady who deserved respect.
Downhill from here , but I think Andrew is in trouble.
A well respected Lady.. She served our country well..
She never let us down.. Very sad.
How strange hearing the words 'His Majesty the King'..
Right, no Emmerdale tonight then, but luckily I've got yesterday's to watch.
A friend of mine has said it looks like she'll be having an early night so I reminded her that she has Netflix.

I didn't say I didn't respect her, I said she had no significance in my life.
I agree that she did a very decent job of shaking hands, greeting people & opening new buildings etc.
Even though I'm a staunch Republican I can promise that I'll never forget this very special day as long as I live.
It's a day that will forever be in my heart as it's the day that our Mum cat died back in 2017 & that's why it's special, to me.
You are not even funny with your stupid disrespectful remarks..
They are disrespectful.. And it would be better if you just shut up..
Some are suggesting the King will take the name George VII.
It has been revealed by Liz Truss that he will be called Charles .. I hope I heard that right.

Exactly. If those are your views Diasi, please just keep quiet.
One blessing is that it seems to have been pretty quick. Something I expect we all hope for when our own times come.
To me she was the Queen throughout my life having become so when I was a baby. She gets my respect for sticking with her job to the very end. I'd rather an effectively powerless hereditary head of state than a short term political president for sure.
I've heard the name Charles III used on radio today but given the history of the first two it wouldn't surprise me if Charles decided to become George VII. A man who has spent his entire life waiting to take up his job. I hope as monarch he I see more guarded with his opinions th as n he was as Prince of Wales.

I would like to echo those sentiments.
If I were he, I would take George VII, but that is a matter for him.
We shall now replace all the policemen's helmets and many public signs.

Hear hear.
I'm new here, but 'that person' is one who I can easily avoid interacting with from now on.

But since we live in a so-called democracy I will not shut up as I'm entitled to express my views.
I accept that my comments on the topic may offend, just as many of your comments on the topic offend me.
Somehow pillock doesn't seem to do you justice.

Perhaps change the first 'O' to an 'I'!
I agree that we should be free to express our opinion but I think we should have some respect for the dead. I don't see myself as a monarchist, but the thought of having some failed politician (best not to name names) is considerably more worrying.
I didn't think I'd be this upset about the Queen's death, but I am. She's always been there from when we were kids, she was part of "us" as Brits, so today we lost part of what makes us Brits.

You're not alone Alex. She was widely respected, and held in great affection by so many. Charles has a hard act to follow.
I was saddened to hear of Her Majesty's death. Somehow, I always thought that she would, like her mother, pass the century mark. I still remember, as though it were yesterday, the death of her father, and given my own age, never thought that I would see Charles become King.
