Title: At last some positive news about Ukraine
Post by: GrannyMac on March 24, 2022, 07:38:17 AM

These children 👧🏻 🧒 are now safe.  Without families, they could have been abandoned.  Good news.

Their faces were a treat to see.. They were going on an adventure... :yahoo:
I really hope this move will help them in the long term..

I belong to a few groups whose members knit for charity.  I see now why we were asked to send teddies to Scotland.

 :upvote:

Let's hope it all goes well for them. Hell of an upheaval for already disadvantaged children.

poor little mites - it must be terribly traumatic - unless they are too young to be traumatised

Being here is like a new life for them..  It would be lovely if they settled and found happiness in this country..
My mother and her siblings were in an orphanage.. The boys were sent to Canada were they mapped out a good life for themselves..

If they were in an orphanage then I can't see there would be much to drawn then back. Children pick up languages quickly (human brains are wired to do so). Probably harder for the older ones as I see it mentioned ages up to 18. I hope they can settle and make better lives for themselves. My only reservation being I don't know just how good our system is for orphans and I imagine most that get taken into care have some pretty traumatic backgrounds. Social services get some pretty bad press and are often underfunded.

I don't imagine life in a Ukraine orphanage offered much of a future, so it's good they've been taken to a lovely part of the UK.  !  None of it would have happened without football fans either.......

i hope they take them to Hampden Park Western Scotland, i think we might just beat them at football, and qualify for the cup.....
i wellcome them with all my heart, and feel sure they will have a better life, they will be broad Scots in a few short years... of that i have no doubts.

I'd love to hear of their progress in the UK.  I believe Ukrainian refugees are initially given three years leave, if their country is safe again they might wish to return. With their Scottish accents...

I was just reading that Rod Stewart is helping to fund Ukrainian refugees.
