Had a letter saying my winter fuel payment this year would be £500 instead of £200. I thought these payments were going to be targetted (i.e. I would miss out).
I suppose it makes up for being cheated out of the current years triple lock pension increase but it won't cover next years too.
I am due to get £600 (believe it when I see it) which is because - I think - I am over 80
I'd just like to get a letter saying what we'll get. Not heard anything at all. :boo:

I think the standard payment for over 80s is £300 so you are probably right.
The payments don't all go out on the same day so I guess the letters don't either. There are apparently 11.5m pensioners (not sure how many households but it must be more than 6m) sending that lot all out on the one day would be quite an undertaking.
and would probably result in the Post Office going on strike!
I've always had the letter about the middle of October on previous years and a week later the money goes in.
We got our £500 letter today.

Well HMG have started the clawback.
Car tax due and that will take over half of it. I'll wait til the £500 arrives before I pay though.

My car tax has arrived plus MOT is due in 3 weeks....as you say Klondy, clawback started.
