There is (talk) of immigrants being sent to Rwanda to be processed from as early as next week..
Somehow I can't see it happening.. There will be too much of an outcry from Human Rights..
The good weather is seeing many more visitors to our shores..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Only men are to be sent. The government wants to deter irregular entry, and will process those asylum claims from Rwanda.  The hope is it might put off the traffickers.

If we were going to send them a warning, surely Orkney would be a worse option, it is bloody cold there.

What would help is having a legal way to have an asylum claim processed before they ever get here and declaring that any illegal entry is a bar on ever being accepted.

I am pretty much certain that the vast majority entering illegally have no valid claim but if the only way to lodge a claim is to enter illegally, which appears to be the case, then sifting out those genuinely in need becomes next to impossible and the process to determine the illegals and deport them becomes equally difficult.

We should never have got rid of those prison ships we had back in the days of Napoleon.

It works for Australia, they take no notice of global outrage.

Unfortunately we have too many leftie lawyers here for it to work, plus the government's not as strong as the Aussies.  The lefties have already started on social media, complaining that in Rwanda 'seekers' are liable to be mistreated. :lipsrsealed:

By making the statement today, is Boris trying to detract from 'Partygate' or is the fact that 600 arrived yesterday (number not confirmed by Home Office) reason for the statement this morning.  OR perhaps the demonstration by illegals outside The Holiday Inn in Luton did the trick.  They're complaining about the food apparently or lack of it !!!!!

The PM has made a terrible mistake in announcing it some time before it
comes in, if it ever does.
By announcing it before the system is ready will now speed up the boats
crossing.
Over 100,000 at least this year I bet.

Alex, I wouldn't vote for her, simply because covering her face discriminates against people who are deaf. I manage pretty well when I can see who I'm speaking to, but masks made it difficult. I accepted they were necessary, but the niqab is a personal choice, not a requirement.

Hello Scrumpy,

I agree wholeheartedly it will never happen, all the law firms in Camden, Archway and Islington screaming murder and mounting endless appeals to the ECHR will now be the direction.

The government of course confidently anticipates this response and is indeed reliant upon it's happening. They have no intention of actually setting up in Rwanda at all. These announcements are from within 'Cakeville' the new dome of truth. They are only intended as a ruse to dump responsibility for failure of this half baked excuse for doing nothing, whilst appearing busy, onto the Immigrant Law industry, of which Keir Starmer is a leading exponent.

Meanwhile a wonderful advert to 'Hurry, Hurry, Hurry, offer must end before Rwanda opens' for the dinghy racketeers, who will be junk mailing the smartphones of Somalia, Eritrea et al, non-stop presently. Result a meltdown demand for places, boosting prices for the inflatable oligarchs and swelling asylum applicants to perhaps 100,000 in 2022.

A very cynical conniption indeed by Patel.

Hi Cassandra. I hope you are well.

I knew it was too good to be true..
They ( Government) have to appear to be doing something about this ongoing problem..
Local elections might have something to do with it.
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I think almost certainly the May elections are foremost in their protracted thoughts at present! I predict many white voters of all parties will abstain, resulting in a very low turnout generally with the Liberal machine sensing gains everywhere. The pollsters seems to suggest Tories stay home in protest for locals, but will turn out for General Elections. Reasoning that a Blue liar is less dangerous to an alliance of Starmer, Davey and Sturgeon.

Perhaps this time the pensioners will just desist completely as I would. At our age there's not much any of them can do to us in whatever time we have left and by contracting out entirely at least a semblance of self respect can prevail.
