I thought it was a Jewish crowd that chose between Jesus and Barrabas to be released, or not.

Anyway, we're not arguing.  You asked the question and I provided the standard explanations for why Ireland seems to be Anti-Semitic😊

It was the Romans and Jesus was himself a Jew.

Don't they say sisiges instead of sausages?

And do they add a g in the middle of "woof"?

Quote from: Vlad on Yesterday at 10:03:44 PMGood evening actors..
It would seem that all the major starring roles are now filled..thank you all for volunteering including those that were volunteered by others.
We here at Vlad Entertainment are pleased to announce that we are ready to rock and roll and commence filming very shortly
Perhaps I should mention, before filming begins, that I am not house-trained.

The argument goes that the Jews voted to kill Jesus.  I can see how some Christians might take umbrage with that.

Quote from: muddy on Yesterday at 09:53:47 PMI can honestly say in over half my life as a Catholic I have never heard other Catholics express hatred for Jews .
I have lived in many countries and it has been the same there .
In my opinion I cannot see any logical reason for Catholics, or most other Christian people, having hatred for Jews.  After all, what have Jews done both over history and also today other than protect themselves?

On a more general level, religion has been a troublesome matter for centuries and has led to arguments and even wars.
The only people who are innocent of religious hatred are Atheists... like me!  We simply rise above it.  😁

Hear what you're saying Muddy.  I can well imagine however, that if one had been brought up in a predominantly single sect religious country, then one might not be quite so worried about voicing anti-different religious sect views.

Isn't this kinda how a lot of religions/cultures expand anyway?  You and I both know that Catholicism has had a chequered history in the way it dealt with non believers.

Quote from: JBR on Yesterday at 10:04:16 PMAh, well I can see some sense in that, though it has been a long time since Ireland was under British rule.

Personally, I cannot understand why anyone could empathise with terrorists, though of course the IRA could have been seen as such.
Quite.  For the "oppressed victims", those who we view as terrorists are seen as freedom fighters I guess.  Quid pro quo.  Ying and Yang.  What goes round comes round etc...
