Title: Just Yards From my House in Perth.
Post by: Raven on September 10, 2022, 12:44:36 PM
How the hell my home escaped I will never know. My old home is in the video but just out of sight, not sure if it escaped or not. This is the surrounding villages and Craigie where my house is.

That's awful !   I didn't see anything on the news here or on telly.  I have a friend who lives in Perth, so I must e-mail her.

Where that red car comes shooting backwards down the brae, that's a couple of minutes walk from my house. Towards the end is the view from flats, my old house is across the road from the flats.

Oh dear, that must have been very frightening.  I hope nobody was hurt.

I wasn't in Perth when it happened Sheila. My son is staying at my place just now.

It seems the rain when it is coming is torrential for some reason. We've had some spells here when it has really tipped down since the heatwave subsided. Come to think of it my next door neighbour mentioned that we had a bit of a river go past which I hadn't spotted and I forgot to check the CCTV. It wouldn't have come close to that though.

Good grief. Poor souls, I hope they get all the help they need.

Well the news channels only have 24 hours in a day & currently it seems there are far more important things on which they choose to focus.

I hope Raven's house has escaped undamaged.

Being insured may or may not cover the costs but nothing is likely to help with the turmoil it means for people's lives. There is an area not that far from me that has been hit by flooding a few times and it takes an age for the houses to be put to rights. I think they have to be allowed to dry before work proper can start on repairs.

Flooding is horrible, as klondike says it causes so much turmoil in people's lives. My daughter's friend was flooded out three years ago, and it took ages to get her home back to liveable standards.

Around 90% of the houses in the village of Fishlake were flooded, perhaps the clue is in the name!

It seldom flooded here, then the farm up on the hill behind us was sold and many new houses were built. The drainage simply can't cope and the water just pours off the hill into our scheme.

bloody hell! On Friday my cleaning lady told me that there had been flooding in Perth and Dundee, but I had no idea of just how bad it was. This house is lucky - stands on just a little bit of a rise so that even a cloud burst in August 2003 which saw the farmyard opposite under 5 feet of water (but the houses were ok, thanks to same sort of little rise I have here)
