You could try an electrically heated vest (rechargeable battery). Plenty on Amazon. I use one for fishing when it is cold. Wouldn't help the legs of course.

I'm assuming there is no thermostat you can swap out for a smart one. Those are a simple DIY swap - just two wires and it doesn't matter which way round.

the heating system here is pretty archaic - five night storage heaters, seven radiant heaters, and a gas fired imitation wood burner (currently needing work which, hopefully, will happen on Monday). None of the electric devices have timer controls. They do all have thermostats, so at least I have that degree of control.
