1955. I had seen a couple of Doris Day films and fancied her something rotten. Then some sod pointed out that she was 32 years old. an OLD WOMAN! Oh dear
Oh to be an old woman of 32 again!!!!!

The yanks seem to have some excellent plastic surgeons.
Some godawful ones too though.
What is the thing with the trout lips that so many women seem to get kitted up with?

Don't those cod lips look dreadful what do they think they look like?
Lips look deformed don't they ? Not forgetting the eyebrows that look like cut up Brillo pads !
Subtle help is one thing, but those lips are just awful. Some face lifts on older women are ghastly too, Anne Robinson (The Weakest Link) looks grotesque!
oh, should have said in the OP - I was nearly 18 at the time
I had a big crush on Robert Redford.. The all American boy.. He has had a bit of work done.. It has taken away the lived in face .. the sparkle and replaced it with a bland look..
I also like Dustin Hoffman.. I don't know why because he is everything in a man that I am not attracted to.. But when he smiles uses the whole of his face..
Rock Hudson was one of my favourites, when I found out years later that he was gay I was mortified .
Just before she died at 99, Betty White was asked if she had any regrets about her life.
She said she regretted not getting Redford into bed. When told what she had said, he replied' Me too'

I was keen on Montgomery Clift, in To Here From Eternity. He was gay too. Good looking men both.
Yes, Mongomery Clift was really handsome. I remember him in From Here to Eternity with Frank Sinatra a great film.
Oops, I got the film name a wee bit wrong!
I hadn't even noticed !  I read too quickly I think, except for my supermarket receipts
