Title: Apalling
Post by: klondike on June 11, 2022, 07:50:30 AM
I listen to news reports on a smart speaker before I get up. I thought this one really was appalling. After the goodwill for the monarchy from many accumulated over the extended weekend Jubilee celebrations Prince Charles has opened his mouth revealing once again his disconnect from a very large swathe of his subjects.

I cba to dig out the source but certainly heard  that about 80%  of UK Brits are in broad agreement with the desperation stakes Rwanda policy. It seems though that Charlie is in disagreement and has "accidentally" made those views public. Not that he is trying to influence the government of course as that would be unconstitutional. What an arse.

80%?

Within all the people I know personally only 1 agrees with the Ruwanda policy.

It must have been a biased source. Even a Daily Mail poll doesn't put it that high...

Now I don't think the policy will work. Not because it wouldn't act as a deterrent to illegal immigration but because I doubt that the courts taking note of the ECHR which is embedded in our law will allow the flights to take place and even if they did they would be stopped by other means as we can't even deport convicted rapists.

One thing I see having read a little of the DM article about Charles' comments is that it seems that some, at least, fear it might as both of the parties seeking the injunction have a financial interest in the crossing continuing.

The legal challenge was brought by the Public and Commercial Services union, which represents thousands of Border Force staff, and the charities Detention Action and Care 4 Calais.

He is entitled to his views but unlike British subjects who are not heirs to the crown he is not entitled to air them in public on political issues which this most certainly is. The fact that it is only an attempt at appeasing voters by the government who most certainly know that they will never be able to follow this up with action is irrelevant. The Royal gob needs to remain shut on anything controversial.

Charles has a habit of quietly sticking his oar in.

Charles needs to get back to talking to his plants !
Everyone I know is in agreement with this policy.  I have my doubts that it will work, but what is the alternative ?

50,000 mostly young men per annum would mean in 5 years time we'd need a new town the size of Sunderland.

It's unsustainable and I'd like to ask Oy what his solution would be.

It's OK for Charles, he lives in Highgrove and Clarence House, why doesn't he put his money where his mouth is and use one of these places to house asylum seekers?  No he would rather them go to somewhere like Linton on Ouse and allow the female population to live in fear, he has royal protection so no fear of anything happening to his wife then.

The Queen has done a great job, but I don't want him as my king thanks very much if he thinks so little of his own people.

None of the immigration apologists have a solution because the only solution is to drastically reduce & reverse immigration.

He's just another old Woke and a blithering idiot too, but seems to think his weedy, Green and frankly out of touch asides are in keeping with general public opinion.

Either that or he intends to whip everyone who disagrees firmly into line. "Agree you plebs or else its a week in the stocks!"

Heaven help Blighty when he starts cogitating from Buck Palace.

His is apparently off to Rwanda himself soon representing his mummy for some Commonwealth thing.  So is he going to tell Rwanda they are an unsafe country to send people? has he shot himself in the foot here?

You'd have to write him instruction first as to where his foot was -

Something like 'Foot, normally found on the end of a leg!'
