General Discussion / Re: Wordle

Quote from: klondike on Yesterday at 08:46:42 PMQuordle is four wordles. Any guess you enter is applied to each of the four. There are two forms daily and sequence.  With daily a guess is applied to all four immediately. With sequence they are solved one at a time but with all prior guesses applied to each in turn.

Octordle is essentially the same idea except there are eight wordles. There is another type of puzzle too. At the start you take over from a rather inept player who has made four guesses already and have to solve all eight. You get nine guesses to do that. If you solve it with a guess in hand you score 9. One bad guess you score 8. Both are wins of course. It can be very tricky. Less luck is involved than any of the other games.

To win in these games it is essential that you don't chase down a solution to just one of the puzzles or you'll probably fail to solve them all.

My own technique is to use the most common letters in my guesses first and not repeat letters already used early on. I solve the anagrams and part anagrams revealed in turn. Bit trickier for the sequence versions. I'm boring and always use the same 3 starters with a couple of options for a fourth if and when needed. I think Mac likes to use different words and puts a premium on using the vowels early. I don't because I don't like repeating letters other than when I have to.

The games offer a practice option which is well worth trying first. Plenty of times till you get the hang of hoe to succeed using your own methods.
Very clear guide!  Of them all, Octordle is my favourite, the rescue is a real challenge.  You're right, I do use different words, but always all five vowels in the first two, usually three and two, such as 'ounce' or 'outer' and 'daisy'.

Presumably the pro Palestinians would have welcomed a few truckloads and hang glider full of armed terrorists turning up to shoot and maim as many attendees of the event as possible?

No doubt they would also advocate no repercussions for such an attack?

They really could play reruns of this event to interrogate suspects .

After a couple of times they would confess to anything .

It pleases me it must make all the nutcase  Islamists froth at the mouth .

It was even worse than I had feared .
The most bizarre costumes and nothing that even vaguely resembled a tune .
The winner Switzerland was a man in a skirt and god knows what sort of fluffy top who is another confused none binary person .
Pleased to see Israel  got fifth place with massive public support which is really what I wanted to know .

Quote from: Diasi on Yesterday at 11:05:15 PMWe should have kept our noses out & let Germany get on with it's plan to repossess the land that was stolen from it after WW1 war & told the Poles to go screw themselves.

Germany had not the slightest intention of involving the UK.

If we hadn't kicked off WW2 there wouldn't be an Israel & there wouldn't be Hamas or many of the other Middle East problems.
Lots of ifs and buts there.  One thing you are missing: Hitler.
Even if Germany had reclaimed its lost land after WW1, who's to say that Hitler (or another person like him) wouldn't have arisen, taken control, and persuaded the German people to expand their country further.

Of course, this new leader may not have hated Jews and many not have had any designs on the UK.

True, there may not have been an Israel, but the area referred to as Palestine (though not a unified country) would still have housed a large number of Jews.

What I think we can be sure of is the ultimate aim of all muslims, as is written in their holy book: to expand and, bit by bit, take over the entire world.

They would have taken the area called Palestine and, for all we know, may have driven out (or perhaps killed) all the Jews living there.  They don't need a Hitler to help them!

In conclusion, I am sure that they would have done exactly what they are doing right now: expanding further from the middle-eastern countries into other neighbouring countries, either 'peacefully' inviting themselves into those countries (as they now do) or perhaps fighting for land.

We overcame the threat of Nazi Germany.  We are now facing our complete control by a quite different organisation!  😨

Well they shouldn't compete either!!!

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Personally I've always thought it a load of utter rubbish which is why I've never ever watched it.

Nothing here, I'm afraid.  Slightly cloudy, but not overcast.
