Title: Road Signs in England
Post by: Ashy on September 19, 2022, 10:53:30 AM
Isn't it high time that we had English road signs and official documents written in Old English and English? In case our politicians are lost for something to spend it on.

Also Roman roads should be signposted in Latin.

I did Latin at school (but only for a year) but didn't get the option to do any Viking. We probably need some in that too though.

I don't see why the Welsh and Scots should have a lot of incomprehenible lettering all over everything and we don't. Our culture is, after all, built on fairness.

Scotch is one thing, but Welsh I find far more difficult.
I once saw a big white van with a completely incomprehensible word on the side, which I have been puzzling over ever since:
"AMBIWLANS"

Welsh is so widely spoken though.

The welsh part is some sort of out of office message.

It's amusing that when the language doesn't have a word for something new(ish) rather than just use the English word they have to sod it about.

It's even more amusing when you consider the number of Welsh people who don't actually speak English is very much in a small minority.
They're just desperate to keep their historic language alive.

Joking apart, how much longer before all our road signs are in urdu?
