Just watching the coffin heading up the Kingsway towards Perth. Your City has done HM proud. Sooooo many lining the route, even several miles outside the City.

Amazing turnout Raven.  I remember the flags at the Coronation, so touched that her coffin is draped with the Scottish Standard.  On to Holyrood Palace now. The Queen loved Scotland.  And so many Scots obviously loved her.

I was really pleased to see the Scottish Standard as well. Must admit I would have been a bit upset to see the UJ, but that will come.

GrannyMac

UJ? I don't know what that is, sorry.

The Royal Mile is thronged. Edinburgh is doing her proud.

Union Jack  Yes I kind of thought Edinburgh would be packed.

Nowt wrong with the Scottish standard, but I'd be sad to see Scotland leave the UK and the blue bits of the Union Flag disappear.
After all, we have been united in several major wars and the Union Flag is recognised all over the world.
As I have said before, if the majority of Scots want independence then so be it, but I'd much prefer us to remain united as the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland.  That would benefit us all: English, Scottish and N. Irish... oh, and even Welsh!

Me too JBR, Raven and I agree to differ on that topic.  Of course the UJ is the Union Jack, doh!

As a Scot who is a blend of mainly Scottish, but English, Irish and Scandinavian too, married to an Englishman who grew up in Scotland, its hardly surprising that I'm in favour of retaining the Union.

I'm surprised that Raven would prefer Scottish independence, but it's a free country!
More importantly, we can still be friends as far as I'm concerned.

I was an adopted Scot through marriage and love the country still. I didn't even mind being called a ' sassenach '

Raven

I find it very hard to think of being British. My parents are/were Highlanders to the bone and it was drummed into us girls from a very early age that Scotland was sold into the Union, and it should never have been. Being born to the Hebridean Isles where most thought the same, WELL, you get the picture.

Well, Sassenachs are Saxons and I, like most northerners, are Angles (with perhaps a bit of Dane thrown in?)!

If it's any consolation, Raven, I used to do Scottish dancing until that Covid thing came along.  I still have a kilt and the other accoutrements.  I hope that helps!

Good for you JBR, I love a good Ceilidh. My mother used to teach Scottish Country Dance one evening a week. :yay:

Oh yes.  One evening a week was always enough for me.
(Er, Scottish dancing, of course.)

I was touched to see that our nearest hotel was flying at half mast the Saltire, the Union Flag, and the Scottish Royal Standard.
