Out of curiosity i wonder do babies get christened any more , i say this as a number of children born out of wedlock today and many children having a mobile father who quickly moves out of the nest and  on to the next unlikely lady,so that the man can put another notch on the bed post ,

in the past it was well organised  as we all know that a couple started courting, (old fashioned word today) then came engagement, followed by marriage in a church or registry office, as then every thing was certificated or documented from the cradle to the grave,
today its all gone out of the window it seems ????

some where along the way weddings aren't so popular as they once was and christenings seemed to follow suite , of course we do read of wedding ceremonies taking place and the same for christenings but these two once taken for granted have or are surely fading into obscurity it seems ,

Q; so has the old age concept of boy meets girl and they live happily ever after,  or the modern version of boy meets girl puts her in the club and then moves on,
so what are your views or opinions as to the way people live their lives today,

Sheila

My daughters have not been christened (although I did marry their father in a registry office) and neither have my grandchildren.

Michael Rolls

myself and my siblings, Veronica and her siblings, Veronica's two children (my stepchildren) and her granddaughter were all christened. That is a time span from 1937 to 2011

Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

Although I am not re!igious all my kids were christened, not my grandchildren though.

I feel these days it's important to uphold our own traditions  as other religions have more of a foothold in this country than traditional christianity and will take over one day if we don't make a stand.

I wouldn't have any of mine Christened (or circumcised or whatever other rituals various religions may prescribe - sacrificing a goat to Odin maybe).

I considered that religion was up to them when they were old enough to judge. They all judged religions to be superstition and did nothing.

I find it amusing that so many were moaning like hell about that error on PF but when given the option still choose it as the other one is slightly different in use.

I did find why crabbyob and floydy wanted it though. I didn't even know it was possible until I tried but you can go on a website (Facebook I assume for them), just click on the picures and select copy then paste them straight into the editor here. It even works a lot of the time.

My son wasn't christened either, neither is my grandson.   Bit of a christian/muslim problem, so do nowt is the answer.

That just means they'll all be upset.

Which leaves the kid able to decide for himself later..Much better than foisting..

GrannyMac

Married in church, we just went along with it.  Didn't have the kids christened, we weren't churchgoers, and felt it would be hypocritical. Grandchildren aren't christened either.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I married in a registry office.. Couldn't afford all that goes into a church wedding..

Church or Registry Office .. when it came to divorce it made little difference..
